New Infraction System - Member Guide

We're launching a new system to maintain a more consistent moderation throughout the forum, and hope it will benefit everyone

Below is a guide which explains this new system. Please take a few minutes to read it through.

Member Infractions Guideline

• What is it?

The Infractions system is a fairer and more efficient way of enforcing Maximum Jackson rules. We believe this will help us to maintain consistency in moderation and help to run the board more efficiently. We feel this system will benefit members and the Team alike.

• Why now?

Previously we did not use this system; instead using a manual form of warning and banning. However, as the membership, level of posting and the Team has grown fairly quickly, we have evaluated our system to make things a little easier and more consistent.

• How does it work?

When a Founder or Moderator issues an infraction or a warning, they will have to fill in a small form. In a PM, you will be told which of your posts broke one of the rules and why it was issued. A thread will also be automatically created in the Max Jax team forum so that we're all aware of any situation that may arise.

Infractions will stay on your account until they expire which means if you receive an infraction within that time, the points will be added to your account. Expiry of infraction points is dependent on the offence, e.g. 30 days, 12 months or never.

You can see your infraction history on your User CP and/or the 'Infractions' tab in your profile.

• Inappropriate/excessive Language - 5
  
  
• Spamming / Advertising/ Double posting - 5
  
  
• Disrespect of Michael Jackson/Jackson Family members - 10
  
  
• Publicly Discussing Disciplinary Actions - 15
  
  
• Repeatedly uploading commercially released material - 15
  
  
• Posting unnecessary sexual comments - 15
  
  
• Ignoring directions from Max Jax Team - 15
  
  
• Disrespect / Personal Attack on Other Member(s) -20
  
  
• Posting pornographic images - 20
  
  
• Making threats of violence towards members - 30
  
  
• Disrespect towards a member of the Max Jax Team - 30
  
  
• Impersonating a Max Jax Team member - 60
  
  
  

25 points earn you a 3 day suspension.

35 points earn you a 7 day suspension.

50 points earn you a 14 day suspension.

60 or more points earn you a permanent ban.

Please note that these points can be customised depending on the severity of the offence, and that custom infractions can also be given.

Any revisions made to point values will be announced and updated within this thread by a Founder.

• Where do they apply?

Infractions only apply to posts on the main forums and visitor messages on profiles - offences on other areas of the board will be given a manual warning as normal. Other areas is defined as blogs, social groups, etc- but not limited to these examples.

• Will other members be able to see any infractions I may receive?

No, your infractions are private and we will keep it that way. Max Jax team will never discuss your infractions with other members of the forum.

• What do I do if I wish to complain about an infraction or warning?

If you feel you were issued an infraction unfairly, please PM an Founder and it will be discussed amongst the team.

But is it auttomatic or do the mods have to see it for it to work effectively?

Not sure what you mean, Do you mean are infractions automatic? No - it's pretty much the same as before, where a mod/team member see's something that needs taking action, they will then infract the member thus contributing to their 'Infraction Points' total.

It is not automatic; we do need to see things. This means we need our members to please continue using the "report post" function. This helps the team see things that may otherwise get overlooked.

Because they're members of authority, duh.
