Man in the Mirror will be performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert tonight

I just heard on the news that the great finale of the Nobel Peace Prize Concert tonight will be that all the artists will get on stage together and sing Man in the Mirror.
The concert will be cohosted by Will Smith and Jada Pnkett Smith and wil be broadcasted Live on the Web by CNN.

they really should honour MJ one day...
not going to go into politics but if they can give a peace prize to a politician using the occasion to defend a war....well then why not give one to MJ? Cant get my head around this..

Unfortunately, the current Statutes of the Nobel Foundation state that the recipient must be currently living in order to be awarded the prize. The only way it can be awarded to someone who has passed on is if the announcement of the awarding was made before the death. This is apparently something that was instiuted in 1974, so it's obviously something that can be changed. Maybe some day... but I definitley won't be holding my breath. lol

There is one posthumous Nobel Peace Prize, to Dag Hammarskjöld in 1961. Before 1974, the Nobel Prize was also awarded posthumously to Erik Axel Karlfeldt (Nobel Prize in Literature 1931).
