I was just browsing the web and didn't expect to find anything interesting until i came across this interesting artice and interview with Teddy Riley. Michael Jackson is mentioned, including specific reference and question to his upcoming album. Riley doesn't exactly sound confident that Michael is taking the project seriously. The interview is only a few weeks old. Below is the Michael Jackson related exerpt:
BallerStatus.com: As an artist, what has been your greatest career achievement? Teddy Riley: My biggest achievement was the "Hip-Hop Honors." I mean for me, the latest achievement. But, as far as making records, the Michael Jackson project. BallerStatus.com: Speaking of Michael, is there any truth to the rumor that you are working on his highly anticipated return to the spotlight? Teddy Riley: Well, I can only say I'm waiting. If it comes around, definitely. I have much, much, a lot of respect for Michael Jackson, so... and, he's my good friend. If he needs me, I'm there. If he doesn't... because a lot of people, they're with the producers who are now, and sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I wish him the best in that area. I know what I can do, and everyone still says that he should do records with me and Quincy [Jones], and the real guys who make records. The thing about it is in this business, you can make records until you're 80. Quincy still has it, and he still has the resources to the best guys. He called me on the scene. So, I know what I can do being with Michael. I am still waiting, you know, to figure out if he's gonna really do this because a lot of people just don't think he's serious. So, despite claims that he IS already working on or has already worked on the project, it doesn't seem as though he has. Well, Damo, I posted a couple of Teddy Riley interviews in Come Together not long after we opened and Teddy did talk about working on Michael's new album.
This is from his interview with undergroundsoul.com in 2006: Teddy: I have to go work with Michael Jackson and I have to work on these Blackstreet and Guy albums. With Michael Jackson, if we could do a 4th quarter, which I doubt, it’ll happen. If not we’ll definitely do a 2nd quarter next year. Greg: Are there other people working with Michael Jackson on his record or just yourself? Teddy: There will be other people working on there but he’s looking at me doing some quarterbacking on the project. I’m probably the one who is gonna foresee this project going forward on the music technology production side getting everybody to finish their projects, and hopefully he designates me to be that quarterback. And his interview with Lucy Diamonds discussing the VH-1 Hip Hop Honours and working with Michael Jackson in 2007: Lucy Diamonds: There have been rumors going around the news that you and Will.i.am are both working on the new Michael Jackson album? Any truth to that? Teddy Riley: Yes, it's true Michael and I are supposed to be working together. I don't know exactly which direction Michael is going in right now, but when the call comes in, I'm there. http://www.ballerstatus.com/article/.../2007/08/3028/ And this one on Sound Generator in 2007: Moving onto the Teddy Riley situation, with an announcement coming this month that Riley was involved in producing the entirety of Jackson's comeback set, which is still reportedly on course for a 2007 release. In a statement at the beginning of the year, Riley revealed he was spearheading a New Jack Swing revival - a musical style he had helped pioneer in the mid-1990's with BLACKstreet and SWV. Most of the acts involved are set to release new music next year under Riley's guise, with a big tour also planned. http://www.soundgenerator.com/viewAr...ArticleID=8142 Confusion on top of confusion... ![]() Complete Teddy Riley interviews here: http://www.maximum-jackson.com/discu...ht=teddy+riley

See the last one with an "announcement" that Riley was involved in producing the entirety of MJ's comeback set, as it was called by Sound Generator in 2007.
