I just got my copy of Jennifer Lopez's "Brave" and noticed this prominent "I Wanna Be Where You Are" sample in her song "Gotta Be There".

What do you think?

I personally think the song is very cute, maybe a little messy, but definitely very catchy.

OMG! That is SO annoying! I met someone who thought it was Rihanna ORIGINAL!

And now when they hear WBSS2008 on radio they think Michael is sampling Rihanna. No kidding, I've heard that happen, lol.

I like the J-Lo sample though. :)

That is so true. LOL. I have seen that too- "Why is Michael Jackson and Akon sampling Rihanna?"

But this is a fairly commonly known MJ song in the R&B world, and apparently one of his most sampled and covered.

that is so weird how people think MJ is the person that samples other artists music...that is funny

MJ is the man

I LOVE Wanna Be Where You Are the original version by MJ. I think this is an interesting mix and I hope the song does well.

Fair play to J.LO for paying respects to a great song and amazing artist

WOW...

It's so OBVIOUS to me, because I grew up with all this music, that these artists are sampling Mj (which I take as a form of homage or tribute, a sign of respect), that I can't imagine ANYONE not knowing that it's Michael, in Rihanna's, Kanye's, and everyone else's songs.

If that's true that just sad, and I hope these artists at some point acknowledge it so that the younger people can find out the true source is MJ...

BTW, thanks for the heads up, Marni; it's a catchy song, but only serves to remind me of how great the original is :-D

I gotta agree, I dont think this song is up to much. No disrespect to J-Lo but it does sound a lil messy. So glad she used this sample though :)
I agree so many people are sampling Michaels music now a days with no credit being given to him and I really dont think thats fair at all

This track is KILLER! and the album is one of the best albums I have heard in years. It is brilliant. It is her best work and sadly not getting anywhere near the attention and accolades it deserves.
