February 18, 2008 -- WE speak now of Michael Jackson. This being the 25th year of his thriller "Thriller," the thrillingest best-selling album of all time ever. This being also the year Jackson himself has poked his - pardon the expression - nose out of semi-hiding and is marking a sort of comeback. So why wasn't he big-time spotlighted on the Grammys?
It was scheduled. But his demands were larger than his income these days. He wanted a special honoree to specially introduce him. He wanted a superspecial award that nobody else ever got before or will again after. He wanted the entire event as a spectacle for himself alone. He wanted 30 references to being The King of Pop. He wanted, he wanted, he wanted. The powers that be finally told him what they wanted - for him to be gone. They told him what he could do to himself and with himself.

Michael Jackson missed out on being honoured at last week's Grammy awards because his diva demands were too excessive.
The 49-year-old was reportedly dropped from the ceremony after rumours there had been original plans to hail him in the 25th year of his best selling album 'Thriller'.
But according to insiders, Jacko, insisted a special honouree was on hand to introduce him to the stage.
He also reportedly demanded a special award, which was unique to him that no one would ever receive again.
Among other requests, was that the entire event was dedicated to his career with no less than 30 mentions to him being called the 'King of Pop', the New York Post claims.
The ceremony was thought be part of the beginnings of a comeback for the singer, who is reportedly in talks to star in the return of the Jackson 5 with his brothers.
He also posed and gave a rare interview to Ebony magazine last year and more recently has unveiled the faces of two of children Paris Jackson and Prince Michael I for the first time.
The singer made a return to the UK album charts this week, coming in at number three with a new edition of 'Thriller' featuring remixes from Kanye West and will.I.am.
