N.Y.: I’m looking at other films, but the [writer’s] strike hit real hard so whatever might have been on the table was thrown back on the back burner. I’m definitely still looking for my next film. As far as artists, I’m working with Michael Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and then my company, Compound Entertainment, is putting out three new artists that I’ll be introducing—including two female R&B artists, Jovie and Chanells and then one male, D-Brown.

Man, maybe because I didn't expect much from him, but Ne Yo did a good job! And it was really nice to see the crowd moving along to the music and seeing Alicia Keys singing along to the music!

he's an ok singer. I think it was a good performance, cause the song is so clean and reveals the voice of the singer so well, but of course Michael would do it 100 times better, and no one can beat his own version :)

However, one of the owners asked that I comment on the Ne-Yo performance of 'The Lady in my Life' since I was there. Since it is after the fact and without giving away too much (must maintain professionalism), here is a little info re: the performance.

MJ was supposed to be a 'surprise' but, since Omarion and Ne-Yo were rehearsing MJ songs and there was an 'unknown name' with no pic on one of the seats in the front row, it wasn't that difficult to figure out that MJ was going to be there. (Especially since there were rumblings on the web that he might appear).

MJ canceled the night before the show. Omarion (who was to sing 'Billie Jean') and Ne-Yo were both informed that they could still perform for the live audience but, that the tribute would not be broadcast since MJ would not be there. Omarion declined. Ne-Yo accepted.

Although, no one can sing a MJ song like MJ, Ne-Yo gave a great performance. It doesn't come across in the video as well as it was live but he received major kudos after the rehearsals and show. And, he received a standing ovation.

This is the third award show that I have worked where Michael was to be a 'surprise'. In fact, he was supposed to close the Grammys with will.i.am and Fergie but, I'm sure you guys already knew that.

Hopefully, the 'rumored' Thriller Anniversary Special will see the light of day.

I thought he did a nice job and all, but WOW it really just goes to show you just how incredible Michael is, 'cause even though this wasn't bad, Mike's version is just INFINITELY SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!

It's all about MJ's voice!!!!!!!!!!! And that has to be one of the best songs o all time, so NO ONE can really do it justice other than Michael himself.

I agree with you guys though, that at least it's more pubicity/free PR from Mike! :-)

Ne-Yo did yet another MJ shout out on the recent 2008 BET Honors Awards. Below is a video of the performance and the audio from the performance.

All I gotta say is Ne-Yo won my heart over by performing this song. This is one of my all time favorite MJ songs (actually...the first MJ song I fell in love with at the age of 5) :inlove: I am now a Ne-Yo believer . I think he did an amazing job on the song (who could mess this song up anyway, it is PERFECT), he sounds very similar to MJ at the end. :wub2:
