Bad and dangerous!

That's the image Michael Jackson wants to project for his big comeback — as these designs show.

The “gangster chic” look (above) was created by costumer-to-the-stars Andre Van Pier, whose outfits Michael sported in videos and TV specials in the '80s and '90s.

“This is the style Michael is leaning toward when he gets back on stage,” Van Pier tells PageSix.com.



But when that might be remains unclear.

Van Pier (whose other superstar musical clients have included Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Beyoncé) says he created the new look for Michael last year, when the singer was hoping to mount a long-term, Celine Dion-like spectacle in Las Vegas.

Since that strategy seems to have fallen through, Michael is reportedly planning a Thriller 25 TV special, as well as an original comeback album.

Van Pier’s solar-powered costumes, which run more than $10,000 a pop, are made from a space-age fabric called prostein protein that changes color in reaction to stage lights.

Personally I think it'll look better without those chains and the "blings". They look really heavy and chunky. Imagine MJ getting knocked off by all those things while performing. :mellow:

I like the idea of him wearing black, nicely-shaped suits and all that, but those outfits aren't Michael, and they are so not original. The second is like the 2003-JT, and that's just boring. Michael is not a gangster, and he'll never be one, so I think he should drop the necklaces and saggy pants, and instead go for something a bit more classy and with a hint of Michael in it. I am not the one to say what he's gonna wear, but that's just my opinion, and I hope Michael will come up with something a little more original and something that HE would wear and not what's "cool" today. It seems like he is trying really hard to fit in today with all the young artists, but I don't think he needs to cause everyone loves him no matter what.

Trying to change your style is really difficult when everyone are used to this one thing. Neither Prince or James Brown changed their image. I think Michael is the man with the fedora, white socks, military jacket and original clothes, and I soo wish he would try to atleast keep some of it in this new era. Remember, Michael became famous for his unusual and innovative style, so for him trying to follow the trends right now is wrong. He CREATED trends, and he should keep doing that. I have to say, this idea of a new style is boring. If Michael wants more fans and attention, he needs to dress so people will notice him more, and not hide behind black sunglasses and wear only black clothes. Right now, the only people Michael are creating new trends for, are emo's.

Yeah he would still look hot :happy: But it's just not him. And it's not original at all. Michael Jackson is original.

As much as I think he'll look great in those outfits, like maybe wear them for magazine shoots.

I really missed the socks, gloves, fedora etc. There are his trademarks and he should continue using them in his outfits etc. The only one that never changed is his sunnies.

I think the clothes was a huge part of who he was, and people had alot of respect because this was the famous guy with the white socks and the fedora. Now he blends in with everyone else, and that makes him less "special". The mystery Michael Jackson has almost disappeared, and I think that has something to do with his clothes too. Who wears bright red military jackets with gold buttons when travelling? Michael Jackson does. It's his decision what to wear, and only his, but I so wish he would stick to some of the old stuff that made him Michael Jackson, or atleast wear something like his old pieces, but in black, if that's what he prefers. I'd love to see something that is nicely shaped, like a military jacket, in black. But please Michael, we have to see those socks and the fedora some time in the future? :happy:

I am enjoying Michaels new looks that we've been getting to see in L'uomo Vogue and Ebony etc . It is very mature and dignified. Very fitting for Michael as he gets older I think.

No, i don't think he's lost his style or something like that. I think that after the trial, he did want to take a little time off, to live quietly for a while, to get back together after all the horrible things he's been through. And there's no way he could do that wearing bright red and gold pants wherever he goes.
But when he comes back, I don't think he will go all black-suited and normal dressing. He will be back to the show biz as an entertainer, and I think he knows better than anyone else how to create a good and innovative (sp?) image. We don't have to worry about that. ;)
Whatever he chooses to wear, I think we may rest assured will be something that makes him feel confortable without losing his "touch" to it.

I agree about the curls though, I would love to see the curls come back. Sometimes in a ponytail and sometimes not. But curls all the way, instead of that big bouncy hair thing he's had going on for a while now. :laugh:

ohhh lord, the tiny tad of bling is what makes me just..go simply gaga over him! Not HUGE dangly thingies on his neck, but SIMPLE and ELEGANT diamond necklaces or braceletes on his wrist or neck! Perhaps ONE or two rings on his fingers. I don't want it over done and I can't see him over doing it.

Someone mentioned how this look, or something similar, will only make him look less special nad more 'blended in.' Not true. He works really, really hard at being unique. He knows what would look, ultimately, great on him, and what would not. I don't think he will turn himself over to just anyone. I think he knows what makes him look 'made up,' or 'watered down.' He just goes based upon instinct, and he's usually right.

I really believe Mike should keep it simple on his comeback.

It would be great if he dressed 'normally' to bring across an image of humility and laid back (and normal!).

The second reason is simply because he looks so much better when he dressed simply. Think In The Closet, TDCAU, Who Is It.

Just jeans and a T shirt or a casual suit. Short hair (VMA '95).

i liked the suit & clothes he wore for the ebony shoot alot & i just loved what he wore on his japan tour last year,all black.black acrylic jacket,black pants,& his hair was amazing,it had a fringe to add funk to it & it was long black vinyl shinny black.
he wears black & white really well but for me theres just a little too much going on with these particular costumes.they should keep it way more simple & less bling,actually no bling.
michael looks so unique anyway that theres a danger of over dressing him,that would make him look just tacky.in the 80's & 90's he pulled it off'because he was much & younger he looked unique but in this day & age the more basic he keeps it the better it works imo.

The first look: Don`t really like the long jacket. Overall, it`s so sexy.

And some days MJ definitely does lose his brush . I would love to see it short too - he looked fantastic with short hair during YANA & the '95 VMAs.

As far as the designed looks go though, I think they're *horrible*. Well maybe not horrible, but just not MJ. I hope he comes up with better stuff and/or works with designers who will really get his essence. He's been looking really good in all the suits from the past few years, the '06 WMA's & Ebony shoots, etc. but I can't really see him performing in stuff like that :mellow:.

I kinda like certain elements of BOTH (mostly the 1st one), but I'm not 100% sold on either one (the chains would probably bother him while dancing, though).

It doesn't matter, of course, since as most of you have said, no matter WHAT he wears you KNOW it'll look AMAZING on him!!! He ALWAYS looks fantastic!!!!! :wink:

I too miss the curls! My favorite Mj hairstyle is that of the BAD era, hands down. I like when he wears it long (but not TOO long) and curly (like in TWYMMF, or Smooth, etc.), he looks so AWESOME!!!!!!! :wild:
