Pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON is hoping to add art mogul to his resume - after pursuing an up-and-coming American painter for his wares.
The Thriller singer is currently in talks with acclaimed New York artist Kehinde Wiley, whose buyers include Denzel Washington and Sir Elton John.
But Wiley - who is famed for his portraits of urban black men in classic Renaissance scenes - thought the planned hook-up was initially a hoax.
He says, "Michael Jackson is calling me. We're discussing exactly what it will involve. He saw my work at the Brooklyn (http://www.pr-inside.com/jackson-eyes-collaboration-with-acclaimed-r419494.htm#) Museum and was taken with it, so he had his people contact me.
"I thought it was a joke at first, so I ignored it for the longest time. Then he contacted a friend of mine who's an actor, so I knew it was for real."

I hope not. The self-glorification ones bug me. I think HIStory is an awful cover (don't shoot Gary!).

The album cover should be a proper photo, show he has nothing to hide.

:guns: HIStory is a great cover! :guns: ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if the new album had a painted cover by this artist! Will Wilson painted the BOTDF cover under the art direction of Nancy Donald and Michael Jackson. Concept wasn't Will's, so this one COULD be something similar, IMO.

We'll see! Photo covers are over and done with really - a lot of album covers are either digital art or traditional art. The simple covers of the '80s stuff don't cut it these days.

Ow!

You're right, album covers don't mean anything anymore. Especially with downloads, an album cover is reduced to a half inch square.

Dangerous is the best cover ever. I wrote this in my review. Not just for the cover, but the whole booklet is amazing. So much work has gone into it. The way the lyrics are printed. The poetry. The colours. Even the CD itself with the black and the eyes and the way the song titles are printed on it. Fantastic.

HIStory is too OTT for me and too egotistical. I know a lot of it was celebraing the past, but sometimes those quotes from Liz and pictures with the presidents just seemed unnecessary.

I was pleased that Invincible kept it very stripped back and bare.

I agree with Tony, but I do understand the "set in stone concept". However, it is awful. (IMO)

Hell, I love the bombast of HIStory's cover, but Dangerous is the greatest album cover I've ever seen.

Hmm..that's interesting. I wonder what he could be up to. But I definitely agree that an artistic cover as opposed to a simple photo would be much more appropriate for these times. It would be cooler too.

I saw the artist's paintings. I'm not those kind that knows how to appreciate art, but they look really really nice.

i loved the HIStory cover.its iconic.dangerous is the best though.as tony said, the whole package is filled with art & poetry.i dont like the invincible cover to be honest i think it could have been alot better.
i would like a new album cover to be something like the ebony magazine cover or a few of the pictures from that shoot.that photographer has worked with michael before & he brings out the best in him.the photos are shoped of course but sleek, stylized & sharp.they got that shoot soooooo right.
get the ebony guy to shoot the new cover mike:cool:

I loved the dangerous cover, but I agree about the history cover, it made a statement. It kinda says 'Im here to stay'.
