View Full Version : Michael's Kids to speak at Grammys
37yearfan 28th January 2010, 02:22 AM Ryan Seacrest jumped off a rumor that the children will sing this Sunday on the Grammys.
Really don't think it will happen but who knows.
I don't see anything wrong or sinister about it if they do.
It seems as if they are enjoying being out and about in the world. I understand how Mike felt but that was his world and situation. His children should not be saddled with all that sadness.
If all the love he getting now he would have gotten even a day before he died he might not have been in the place he was.
I hope they do come out they now (through unfortunate) situations understand exactly who he was to the whole world and it still doesn't trump who he was to them. So they might want to feel 'our' love.
heeyebsx3 28th January 2010, 02:32 AM I don't think so.
But i can see it now.
They'll do a beautiful performance.
Then Joe will come up and talk about he taught them everything he knows, and how he signed them to his label. And then Jermaine will claim he taught them everything. And a battle of the egos will ensue :D
Emma 28th January 2010, 02:37 AM ^ My thoughts exactly.
MJ's kids performing + Joe x Jermaine = disasterrrr
BrownEyes 28th January 2010, 02:39 AM Through a foghorn: "Nooooooo!" I really hope that this isn't true. I don't know, I just...no. For a lot of different reasons.
heeyebsx3 28th January 2010, 02:39 AM Lmao yeah; nothing good can come of this.
EVEN if they have amazing talent; I really don't think they should be exposed at this age, especially not so soon after June.
I mean really, they're just kids; have they forgotten what being a child performer did to Michael ?
ZIP-A-DEE-DOO-DAH 28th January 2010, 02:47 AM Perform?!?
oh no.....
accepting an award for their father, if they want to, is one thing.... but perform?
I hope that isn't real.....
HeadphonesLuV808 28th January 2010, 02:55 AM I was expecting angel2 to be the one who created this thread...
But anyways now I know someone is trippin'....What do they want with these kids? Do they want to them to carry an image of eccentricities like their fathers....
tyff says whoa 28th January 2010, 02:58 AM I hope they do come out they now (through unfortunate) situations understand exactly who he was to the whole world and it still doesn't trump who he was to them. So they might want to feel 'our' love.
Michael said they knew & understood who he was & what he did a long time ago...
EVEN if they have amazing talent; I really don't think they should be exposed at this age, especially not so soon after June.

Well, personally, I would encourage them to engage in the arts if that's what they wanted by going to performance art schools & studying the craft, but becoming a "child star" I would not support. It's just too hard on children, & thousands of childhood disasters show that, including Michael. However, if they do want to perform at the Grammy's for & in honor of their father, then I support it. It's their father & this is really the only thing that they have left in terms of honoring him... I just hope they won't be pressured to be the next "MJs", you know? I would also hope that they're good -- as the backlash would be terrible. Media is cruel to children and adults.
heeyebsx3 28th January 2010, 03:13 AM Michael said they knew & understood who he was & what he did a long time ago...

Yea. I think its perfectly fine if they get private and personal training or practice. But I dont think they should be 'exposed' to the public right now.
LuvUMore 28th January 2010, 05:07 AM Don't really know about this as the full truth. Could it be possible that they might sing along with a full stage/chorus in honor of their dad for the special "Earth Song" tribute?
Emma 28th January 2010, 05:07 AM ^ That seems more likely. Just like at the memorial service.
tyff says whoa 28th January 2010, 05:12 AM ^ That's the kind of thing I had in mind, too.
Beetlejuice 28th January 2010, 05:14 AM What an eerie thought.
Through a foghorn: "Nooooooo!"
lol
Cali MJ Fan 28th January 2010, 05:27 AM I heard they might sing and it was implied as a tribute to their father. In that context, I think it is a wonderful thought, especially if it is MJ3's idea. I think this is a beautiful opportunity for MJ3 to step into Michael's essence-- to breathe in the L.O.V.E. and wonder that surrounded Michael... and to feel the L.O.V.E. and support that is out there in the world for those children. But I think this might have been MJ3's idea .... and I can't wait to see it. They will always be the closest thing to MJ left on the planet-- his innocence.
Now, if it was Papa's idea.. oh heck no!
ILuvMichael09 28th January 2010, 05:30 AM Ok although I don't think its a good idea cause I think its too soon after his death IF thats what they wanted to do then I don't see the harm in them taking part of whats going to be a AMAZING tribute to there father.....Michael did always say that they understood the price he paid for being a star so young and talked to them about the pros and cons about it but ultimatly its THIER choice if they want to do it or not I mean he basically said he would not stop them if thats what they wanted but would also make sure that they didn't make the same mistakes he did either
heeyebsx3 28th January 2010, 05:32 AM Granted. It would be a sweet gesture.
But...their just kids; and the LAST thing you want to do to these kids is in anyway harm their childhood.
And the media backlash afterward...no no; they shouldnt have to deal with it.
Especially since everyone knows Michael didn;t want his kids in the spotlight, that would be the worst thing to do.
ForeverMJsFan25 28th January 2010, 05:52 AM ^^ That would be a sweet idea, however I still really dont know if I believe this.
ILuvMichael09 28th January 2010, 06:05 AM Granted. It would be a sweet gesture.

Yes I agree with most of this and yes didn't want his kids in the spotlight cause he didn't want them to suffer the same fate he did growning up and losing his childhood but he also said that it would be thier choice....He certinly wouldn't push the issue but its thier choice....other than that I totally agree with you there
heeyebsx3 28th January 2010, 06:18 AM Yea. They're choice to pursue music.
But maybe they should practice at home first, or go to school, or get private lessons.
But i think its wayy to soon for them to do that type of public performance.
yepitsme 28th January 2010, 06:34 AM Didn't they already performed, well sort of, at the memorial when they where up on stage with other kids singing Heal The World?
It may seem premature now but I won't be surprised if Paris enters the entertainment business in the future or be involved in the performing arts. Not because she was forced to do it but because she likes it and because of her dad's impact. I'm sure you all have seen and remember this cute little conversation between MJ and lil Paris, in one of his home videos:
MJ: "Tell me what your wishes are for your birthday, what you want to see happen, In your life, what do you want?"
Paris:" I'd do what you do"
MJ: "what do I do?"
Paris: "You sing and dance"
There's also one where a guy behind the camera asked the same thing to lil Paris, and she answered: "I'm gonna be like my daddy"
ZIP-A-DEE-DOO-DAH 28th January 2010, 07:08 AM Michael said they knew & understood who he was & what he did a long time ago...

I read your post- and was gonna reply similar to below:
Don't really know about this as the full truth. Could it be possible that they might sing along with a full stage/chorus in honor of their dad for the special "Earth Song" tribute?
If they are accepting an award and/or just doing a singalong (which yes, they already did at the memorial)- no problem. But please I hope they don't put those children on stage to do anything more than that. Who knows how the media would roll with that-- who knows.
And yes, I'm sure Michael talked to them about some things but you don't go into gory details of your life with your young children. He may have "touched the bases" on what his life was like but I'm willing to bet that some of us probably know more about the torment and abuse he went thru his life (from his family, the media, etc.) than they do. Regardless of what he may have told them- and them witnessing fans and paps everytime they went out- for the most part Michael seems to have "sheltered" them from the really harsh stuff- if you know what I mean. (as any parent would do. What parent gets into the gory details with their child, about abuse/etc. that they endured, while they are young?) I mean like it atleast appears that he didn't like them watching news, getting on the internet to read anything they wanted to anywhere online. He has said in interviews he wouldn't want them to know things said about him and he would "hate it" if they knew this or that... (stuff said about him in the media). My point is that regardless of what he may have TOLD them, it's not the same as actually reading it, watching it on the news, etc... and not the same as how he LIVED it.
And I would hope that they do not have free reign to know/read/see all that stuff even now. (hope and pray that they don't)
And I don't want it to start in on THEM... we've already seen some articles and comments made here and there in the media that is not exactly "positive" about them... *sigh* They put themselves out there at such a tender age and at such a sensitive time still for them.... they may be in for a rude awakening on exactly how harsh the media can be and exactly to what lengths they'll lie/etc. to make money off their names and likenesses. *sigh*
angel2 28th January 2010, 07:35 AM I think it is excellent that Michael's children will be part of this very special evening. Where they can feel and witness the love and respect of the world for their father 1st hand.
IMO ... It's part of the healing process.
Why hide them at home, while the rest of the family are at the Awards evening, enjoying & feeling the magic of the 1st 3D performance created by Michael ... at a Grammy Awards Evening.
It is just ridiculous to think that his children would be excluded with the idea/reason being of "protecting" them.
I feel far too much is being made of wanting to wrap them in cotton wool.
I go back to my intitial standing of .... giving the children the option of being part or not part of the evening.
No doubt they will love to be there showing to the world ... their L-O-V-E & support & respect to their father's Life Time Achievement.
Oh & I believe this should not be in the Tabloid Junkie section .... but maybe it will be lifted out of here when the news is made official which I hope it will be.
marajade 28th January 2010, 07:35 AM I have no problem with them being there. If my father was to be honoured like that, I know I would like to be there.
I have also no problem with them sing along with a chorus like in the memorial.
An actual performance though? Hell no. They are too young for that and media is too cruel. These children are under enough scrutinization already.
angel2 28th January 2010, 07:49 AM Yea. They're choice to pursue music.

Will Smith's kids took to the stage at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert and sang Man in the Mirror.
:hmm:
What makes MJ's children different ... ?
SHOULD THEY WISH TO DO SO

Take a look at imbd board for "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and read how they are bashing Jaden. (I did not go look this up right now. I read it awhile back when I happened to watch the movie on tv and sometimes I'll go read more about movies even after I've watched them.. because I dunno... cause I'm nosey. Who knows. LOL) and then reread my post- because I'm fine if they WANT to, but I sure hope they know what they are getting into.....
Everytime Jaden performs, everytime Suri is in public, etc. they are BASHED by some people and even the media at times. It could happen to MJ's kids too and probably to a whole 'nother level as other celebrities children... same as it was at a whole 'nother level for Michael. And personally... they are too young to even know what they are subjecting themselves to, especially Blanket.
(and ps, the difference is that MJ's kids don't have parents to try to protect them and have their best interest at heart. Jaden has his parents and Suri has her parents/etc- MJ's kids have Katherine.... you do the math. didn't turn out so hot in some respects for Michael- did it?)
accepting an award for their father- wonderful.
participating in a sing-a-long like they've already done- if they want to do that- great. What does it matter? They've already done it when milions were watching.
performing in any other way- okay if they want to, but I sure hope they know what they are getting into (and I doubt that they really do)
I am not saying I wish to deprive them of doing what they may WANT to do..... not at all. I just worry about them- like a mama bear. Yanno? LOL

Yes I understand ... but they survived the scrutiny of the very stressful memorial and burial services. This Awards evening on the otherhand is something more joyous, even though it remains sad that their Daddy is not there with them.
But I think they will do great ... Paris especially.
IMO I think we are going to see great things from her, because she is in a very powerful position to continue with Michael's Humanitarian projects/legacy. I'm certain Michael's compassionate nature is deeply instilled in all three his children.
Michael Jackson's children could perform at the Grammy Awards.
Katherine Jackson - who is now the legal guardian of Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael II, seven - is reportedly in talks with organisers about whether the kids could sing one of their father's songs at the ceremony at Los Angeles' Staples Centre on Monday.
A source said: "Michael first unveiled his legendary moonwalk at the Grammys, so it's only right they all go out with a tribute."
The tribute, which is set to include the premiere of the Earth Song mini-movie, will feature performances from stars including Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion and Smokey Robinson.
Singer Keri Hilson - who is up for two awards, Best New Artist and Best Rap/Song - can't wait for the ceremony and the Michael Jackson tribute, but has no idea what to wear.
She said: "I guess my aim would be to stand out. I want it to be kind of the humble approach of being at the Grammys for the first time, first album. So I want that, something great but not something like, 'I'm here. I've arrived.' "

NiallJackson 28th January 2010, 02:35 PM Wouldn't the cutest thing in the world be the 3 kids doing the Drill? LOL
TomV87 28th January 2010, 02:40 PM I would LOVE to see them race Jermaine to collect the award on behalf of Michael
heeyebsx3 28th January 2010, 04:18 PM But Will Smith's kids are already basically stars. They've all starred in movies, and guest starred on tv shows. They're actual child stars at this point.
Michael's kids are not. They're basically only popular because of association
And it's different because obviously Will wants or doenst mind his kids in the spotlight, Michael; didnt want that.
Cali MJ Fan 28th January 2010, 05:12 PM Maybe we can just wait and let it happen-- perhaps they have some incredible voices that will knock our socks off...and since we've never heard them, we don't know that yet. Can you imagine if they belt out something and watch the jaws of everyone in the audience drop?
Personally, after Paris' comments at the Memorial, I think for sure they will want to do something to honor their father. While there will be other opportunities for them to speak/perform in their father's memory and as his true living legacy, I think the Grammys are the perfect time. I sincerely hope they do, and as long as it is what THEY want to do.
As for the paps, well... we outnumber them. We can deal with that should the need arise, right?
Beetlejuice 28th January 2010, 05:26 PM I hope the kids are just gonna stay put and watch the awards show.. either from home or from the audience.
heeyebsx3 28th January 2010, 05:29 PM I hope the kids are just gonna stay put and watch the awards show.. either from home or from the audience.
Well I think they should atleast be there.
And EVEN if they want to accept the award that's okay.
But a full on performance? No no.
ZIP-A-DEE-DOO-DAH 28th January 2010, 07:25 PM ^^ right

What does any of that have to do with anything I've said or them "performing" during this awards?
At the memorial they just got on stage, sang along with many others, and then Paris said her little speech. HOW IS THAT PERFORMING like I was talking about? I already said a singalong like that -which they have already done- would be no biggie. *confused*
And the 2nd paragraph has not one thing to do with anything discussed in this thread. That has absolutely nothing to do with them performing. *sigh*
I would LOVE to see them race Jermaine to collect the award on behalf of Michael
HAHAHA
I'd love to see that- especially if they beat him on stage and then all turned and said haha, we beat-cha!!!!
LOL

exactly.... exactly.... especially the bolded part.
Michael wanted them to do what they want- but I think he made it pretty clear that he wanted them to do what they want WHEN THEY ARE GROWN and make that decision. (such as "what do you want to do when you GROW UP, what do you want to do IN YOUR LIFE". He didn't say what do you want to do right now....)
tyff says whoa 28th January 2010, 07:41 PM We'll just have to see what happens...
Cali MJ Fan 28th January 2010, 07:52 PM Yes... let's wait and see. Who said it would be them performing alone? Maybe with others? We don't know anything and just basing on speculation, aren't we? I am for not discouraging them if this is what they want to do. They must know by know what their father means to the world from the outpouring of L.O.V.E. since June. Maybe they want to return some of that and honor their Daddy[I] in a way much more personal than any other performer could ever do. Maybe they will sing with their Aunt Janet.. the possibilities are endless.
I salute their courage.
37yearfan 28th January 2010, 08:04 PM Iam going to go back and read this conversation - I was electronically challenged last evening but Jodi Gnomes - the A&E person working with The Brothers just posted this on Twitter.
Rec'd 100's of Tweets bout Prince/Paris Grammys. Pls let THEM do what's in their hearts for their dad.No one knows MJ's intent better. Luv
Stopping by the Target to get a six box pack of tissue cause this might be for real.

My understanding was that the only reason Mike was even doing This Is It (above board) was because he wanted to show his children what he did and that they were now old enough to really get the full scope.
florida chick 28th January 2010, 08:11 PM To be short and to the point, the kids, especially Blanket, would be too frightened to sing. whatever the kids decide , if it's dancing or singing, i hope they will have the chance to do it freely. i'm not too sure about them performing at the Grammys

Quenchmydesire 28th January 2010, 09:37 PM I hope this does not happen.. It might look beautiful but I don't like the idea of those kids in front of press/camera's. Michael protected them from the media and all that, but I think the protection is gone. :( Correct me if I'm wrong...
DivinelyFavored 28th January 2010, 09:46 PM I think if those kids want to do a tribute for their beloved dad, then let them! I know it has to be hard being MJ's kids because he was the most famous person that ever lived but I also feel that too much sheltering can be bad. I hate they are being home schooled but I am sure its for the best. I got my 3-D glasses so I am ready.

Can you imagine them in a public school?
Minus the fact that they'd be mauled everyday, but then there's going to be the MJ hater students.
Who will reveal all the tabloid junk that the kids probably don't know about.
And of course it would be a nice tribute to their father, but you have to think about what's going to happen to them after.
With the media backlash, and everything. And they will essentially become child stars whether they wanted to or not.

Oh yes I totally agree, little kids can be evil spawns of satan. I think its a damned if you do damned if you don't situation but if it helps the children cope, or whatever I am for it. But I know when Paris said her dad was the best dad, the media was like those are crocodile tears so....
I just hope if they do that they were not pressured by anyone.
Cali MJ Fan 29th January 2010, 01:17 AM http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/Music/01/28/michael.jackson.family/index.html?hpt=Sbin
Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Michael Jackson's two eldest children are scheduled to take the stage this weekend to accept the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for their father, Jackson family sources said.
It would be the first public appearance for Prince Michael, 12, and Paris, 11, since their dramatic appearance at the memorial service 12 days after their father's death.
"The whole world is waiting to see these children blossom," said Brian Oxman, a lawyer for Joe Jackson.
Two sources close to the family said the youngest, 7-year-old Blanket, was not expected to appear, although they suggested that might change.
Contrary to some media reports, the sources said there was no plan for the children to sing or dance at the show.
The Recording Academy, which presents the Grammy Awards, will honor the late pop star with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Special Merit Awards ceremony Saturday evening in Los Angeles.
Video of the presentation is likely to be included in Sunday night's musical tribute to Jackson during the Grammy telecast, the sources said.
While Katherine Jackson, Michael's mother, is expected to attend, Joe Jackson, his father, decided not to go because of his anger over the behind-the-scenes talks that led to the agreement to have the children accept the award, family sources said.
The decision came just this week, after Katherine Jackson, the legal guardian of the children, complained to Grammy producers that no family members had been invited, the Jackson sources said.
Two sources in the family said that she was initially told by producers that the estate's special administrators would decide who would take part in the Jackson tribute.
"Can you believe this crap?" one source quoted Joe Jackson as saying when he heard that.
The Grammy producers have not responded to a CNN request for comment.
A spokesman for the estate administrators said the matter was for Grammy producers to decide.
"Why is a stranger making family decisions?" asked Oxman, the lawyer who is representing Michael Jackson's father in a legal battle with the administrators.
Oxman said those administrators have disconnected the Jackson family from any decisions involving Michael Jackson's legacy.
Oxman was in a Los Angeles court Thursday where a judge set May 26 as the date he will hear testimony in Joe Jackson's request for a monthly allowance from his son's estate. Joe Jackson, 80, said he depended on his son's financial support for years before his death.
The administrators, lawyer John Branca and former music executive John McClain, contend he has not shown how he was "actually dependent" on Michael Jackson.
The estate lawyers said the expenses Joe Jackson wants covered by the estate -- including vacations, air travel, assistants and legal fees -- are not reasonable. They also noted that while Jackson's mother and three children were named as beneficiaries in his will written in July 2002, Joe Jackson was not.
Joe Jackson is challenging the validity of that will, which names Branca and McClain as executors, but so far the court has refused to hear his arguments.
The judge overseeing probate of the will already awarded $60,000 in monthly support for the three children and $26,000 a month for Katherine Jackson, starting from June 25, 2009, the day Michael Jackson died.
CNN has learned that Katherine Jackson has not received any of the money ordered for her because of a judgment in a lawsuit nearly two decades ago.
A South Korean newspaper, the Segye Times, sued Michael Jackson in 1990, claiming he failed to perform at a series of concerts they had already paid him for. The lawsuit also named Katherine Jackson, Joe Jackson and another one of their sons, Jermaine Jackson.
Michael Jackson's lawyers reached an out-of-court settlement with the newspaper, but his parents and brother did not. When they failed to fight it in court, a California judge issued a $4 million summary judgment against them, which has now grown with interest to about $8 million, according to court papers.
heeyebsx3 29th January 2010, 01:19 AM Well I don't think anyone in the estate has the authority to decide who accepts the grammy, nor do i think they would even want to.
Cali MJ Fan 29th January 2010, 01:33 AM Agreed-- I just wonder why they had to tie this and the court hearing together... and Oxman was the commentator. :X
tyff says whoa 29th January 2010, 04:23 AM That's pretty lame if people from the Grammys didn't invite any Jackson family members; it's also very lame if the Estate administrators & lawyers were trying to decide if the family will go or not. Hmph! Very sweet if the kids will be there, though, very. I'd love to see them!
ZIP-A-DEE-DOO-DAH 29th January 2010, 04:53 AM Okay.. here's my thoughts.
Yah! If the older two (and should Blanket decide to) want to accept the award- that's wonderful..... their decision though.
If it's true that Katherine was upset that no family members were invited to accept the award... then it's really uncool for them to not invite any family members to accept the award or atleast be present during the Grammy tribute to Michael...
I can't imagine how the "estate" gets to decide who accepts any of Michael's awards though- so that doesn't sound right to me... (aka doesn't sound believable to me)
Joe needs to sit down and shut up though. LOL
(agree with estate that what he's asking for is not reasonable in the first place- and tis true that he was not listed in the will and if he can't even prove that he WAS dependent on Michael financially before Michael passed.. then he shouldn't get diddly squat now- since Michael didn't put him as a beneficiary)
That stinks- if it's true about Katherine not getting anything because of the judgement. And if it is true- then how was Katherine being supported financially by Michael before but can't be now, because of the judgement? Why is him giving her money for living expenses before he died any different than his estate giving her living expenses now? Because it was under the table- on the sly- and now it's well known and all legal and such? Why didn't Michael handle that judgement for Katherine back then also?
(I do not know details about that agreement, pymts made, nor any subsequent settlement Michael made. But who knows. Maybe THEY were paid for him to perform but he wasn't- then he was sued and he "handled it" -on his part- with the settlement but didn't "handle" it for Katherine and/or Jermaine because they were the ones that received the money in the first place? Who knows. Wouldn't be the first time someone in his family, or otherwise, was paid or given "gifts" with the promise of "something" from Michael- performance or otherwise- when Michael had no intentions of doing such things....) BUT if all that is true about the judgement against her and her not receiving any money from the estate because of it..... well then DOH- no wonder they went back in to ask for more "allowance" for the kids... how else would she be able to pay for anything if not from the kids allowance from the estate? She ain't go no job..... atleast not a paying one. LOL
Who knows if any of this is true though.
One article was saying the award for Michael wouldn't even be televised and it was just "family sources" that say Paris/Prince- and maybe Blanket- will accept the awards. No one official has stated it. We'll just wait and see.
*sigh* to all this mess...
krystikel 29th January 2010, 05:13 AM It sounds like the part where his award will be given is going to happen Saturday and be filmed, and then portions of that will be broadcast Sunday during the Grammys.

I wonder how that would work with someone other than Michael accepting the award- filmed previous to the actual award ceremony. LIke where and all the other specifics? Interesting.

See part in blue. lol
angel2 29th January 2010, 05:47 AM Michael Jackson's Kids, Prince Michael Jr. And Paris, to Accept Grammy Award on Behalf of Their Father
January 28, 2010 by Ron Hart

Michael Jackson's children Paris, center, and Prince Michael, right, are expected to accept a lifetime Grammy award Saturday.
Hopefully Prince Michael Jackson Jr. And Paris Jackson Are Living Happy and Healthy Lives After Their Father's Death
Michael Jackson's two oldest children, Prince Michael and Paris, are scheduled to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award on their late father's behalf during Sunday night's Grammy Awards. Jackson's youngest child, Blanket, is seven years old
Michael Jackson's Kids, Prince Michael Jr. And Paris, to Accept Grammy Award on Behalf of Their Father and will not attend. The Grammy Awards themselves will contain a number of tributes to Jackson, including the telecast of a 3-D film based on the hit song "The Earth Song".
Despite earlier rumors that suggested they might, the kids are not scheduled to perform at the Grammys, but their appearance will surely bring down the house as they represent a new generation of Jacksons.
While it is not widely known whether any of Michael Jackson's children are blessed with the type of talent that their father had, if nothing else, the kids will certainly be looked to help carry on their father's legacy. Their appearance on the Grammy Awards to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award for their father is likely the first of many public appearances at which their presence will be requested.
One hopes that these children will have the opportunity to grow and mature at their pace and will be able to do these types of appearances if they so choose and if they enjoy it. One of the things that Jackson had to deal with in his life was a childhood that was not the easiest. The demands of a show biz life and the needs of his family had to at least on some level wear on a young Michael Jackson. While neither Prince Michael Jackson Jr. or Paris Jackson are involved direclty in show business, they will surely have to deal with quite a bit in life. From the death of their father at a young age, to the worldwide notieriety that they will automatically have, to the levels of expectations of their own talent that may or may not be fair, the kids hopefully will be allowed to grow up in a loving, supporting and, to the extent possible, without needless pressure.

MODS PLEASE LIFT THIS OUT OF THE TABLOID SECTION NOW THAT IT'S OFFICIAL
ILoveyouMJ 29th January 2010, 05:51 AM This is just wrong, no one should expect this. Leave the children alone! :(
heeyebsx3 29th January 2010, 05:56 AM I think all these articles coming out now are just rumors though.
All these article writers are just 'assuming' or 'hoping' that it's the kids.
But I doubt they've heard anything official.

Um, why did you quote the post again and put it in blue?
Was there something in my post that indicated I didn't BELIEVE you or something? Cause I totally did. Showing me wasn't necessary.... I believed you. LOL
ForeverMJsFan25 29th January 2010, 08:21 AM I dont know whether to be happy or upset about this..
Vanessa83 29th January 2010, 01:20 PM If the children want to honor their late father by accepting the Lifetime Grammy - that's fine. However I have my suspicions that their inclusion is simply for television ratings.
At the end of the day I'd like to think if the children do accept the Lifetime Grammy - it was their choice.
37yearfan 29th January 2010, 01:49 PM Thsi has been intersting discussion indeed, I guess I"m just not that plussed about it. What makes these children any different than any other children of celebrity.
Do we honestly think that folks are not going to do things we might not want with our children if we were to pass today?
Do we honestly think that the continued masks and other shenanigans that Mike did in order to 'protect' the kids from the 'media' would not have impacted them negatively in the long run?
The media is not hounding them - I think the media is being as respectful of the children as they were to Princess Di's kids after her unfortunate death.
I love Mike and his brothers but honestly I think some of this stuff is taken wayyy to seriously. They are humans just like us - they probably act just like other kids as evidenced by the pictures we have seen. They just happen to be the 'children' of Michael Jackson and have a boat load of money.
If I was his child I would be MILKING the fact that my dad was Mike - HA HA yours ain't, lol
What I hope is that none of them get rebellious etc. cause boy oh boy I can see the boards now, lol
Vanessa83 29th January 2010, 02:11 PM Fair point
37yearfan 29th January 2010, 02:22 PM Fair point, when 'Living with Michael Jackson' first screened - I wondered about the masks, but I never saw the concealing of the children from the media as harmful - but you raise a valid issue!
Correct me if I'm wrong but it seemed from early 2009 the children were no longer concealing their faces.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that Mike wasn't a perfect parent like none of us so who is to say that because of HIS issues with Media (albiet most of the time valid) made his thoughts about how to raise his kids - correct?
When he was trying to calm Blanket after dangling him off a balcony (on that EVIL Martin Bashir special) I was like WTH? Why is he shaking that baby like that and trying to feed him - it was al frantic and hectic.
and yes once they got older like in one of the last shots of them - the one with Prince walking and talking to his dad - they were not masked.
We really don't know exactly what direction Mike was going to go in as the children got older and who is to say that he wouldn't have showed them off on the This Is It Tour?
We can be 'concerned' and what not but really I would be dying to go to the grammy, meet all those stars AND accept an award for my DAD the greatest entertainer on the planet, lol

The King of Pop's progeny will be represented at the Grammy Awards.
A source close to the Jackson family exclusively tells E! News that, as of late Friday evening, Michael Jackson's three children will not only attend the Grammys on Sunday, but will take the stage during the planned tribute to the pop icon to "read some sort of speech" about him.
As we reported before, several other members of the Jackson family are already planning to be in the audience at Los Angeles' Staples Center, as well.
Cιline Dion, Carrie Underwood and Usher are among the current chart-toppers who will be participating in the Jackson tribute.
Janet Jackson presided over a muscial tribute to her older brother, who died last June, at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

I am overjoyed that there will be a special meaning to this and not just a run of the mill acceptance.

This will be special I am certain.

Michael Jackson Tribute
Although many fans of the late Michael Jackson are still in mourning, the King of Pop will be honored on Sunday night with a special 3-D broadcast of Jackson`s orchestral ballad "Earth Song". Michael Jackson's untimely passing in 2009 left a gaping hole in the music industry, especially since Jackson was preparing for a return to stage in London for the This Is It tour. Various awards ceremonies have since honored the legendary King of Pop but Grammy producer, Ken Ehrlich, decided against a traditional artist homage at this year's awards ceremony.
Instead, the video for "Earth Song" will be aired in tribute to Jackson with Carrie Underwood, Smokey Robinson, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson and Usher all tapped to pay tribute to the career and special talent of Michael Jackson. With such a beautiful song about the environment that speaks to the compassion of Michael Jackson,
expect to see a lot of tears, especially when Michael's children take to the Grammy stage to accept the special Grammy honor.

LOL , i mean a 6,12 and 11 year old singing in front of millions , its gonna look cute LOL but stupid as hell.what do these people want from the kids anyway just leave them alone they should be doing ordinary things that kids their age do , not perform on stage on Grammy night , I dont think Mike ever bought his children on stage even in his late years like the 2006 WMA and the 2003 BET awards etc... why start now?
peace.love.mj 30th January 2010, 09:23 PM Okay so it starts at 6pm Pacific time?!?
I am so confused!
tyff says whoa 30th January 2010, 09:26 PM ^ Yeah I know :) but the grammy site said it was going to start at 3 PM but I thought they meant 3 PM pacific time. Now I know they meant Eastern time since Myspace says 6 PM pacific time
No, 3pm would be 6pm eastern. If it was 3pm eastern time, then it would've been at 12pm pacific. It can't be 6pm pacific time & 3pm eastern time...
On the Grammy live page, nothing starts until 2pm pacific, so right now it's just a bunch of... "filler" stuff going on.
snorlaaax 30th January 2010, 09:36 PM Anyone knows what time it starts for us Europeans, I'm really bad with the whole ET thing. :P I'm in Amsterdam!

As the Grammy Awards prepare to honor the late King of Pop with a Lifetime Achievement Award, Joe Jackson says he is proud to have his grandchildren accept the award on his son's behalf.
According to reports, Michael Jackson's two eldest children, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael, 12, are scheduled to take the stage at Saturday's Special Merit Awards ceremony at L.A.'s Wilshire Ebell Theater.
"I am very proud that my son, Michael Jackson, is a recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's Grammy," Joe Jackson said in a statement Saturday. "However, there [have] been some recent rumors that I am displeased with the idea that Michael's children are accepting the award on my son's behalf. On the contrary, I am very proud of my grandchildren. Katherine and I are the ones that [have] initiated their participation."
But it remains unclear whether the children will make an appearance, as other reports claim, onstage for the Grammy telecast on Sunday.
The tribute planned for the telecast includes a 3-D film clip the pop sensation made before his death in June and performances by Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Celine Dion and Smokey Robinson.
"I thank the Recording Academy for their honor and know that Michael would have been very pleased to receive such recognition," Joe Jackson continued. "I am very proud of my family and I will continue to seek justice for my son."

But honestly I'm surprised Michael is just now getting this award. What was the hold up? Is he just getting it because he died?
Paul McCartney got this award like in 1990 I think.

ZIP-A-DEE-DOO-DAH 31st January 2010, 12:15 AM arghhhhh
everytime they go to show a video of the person getting an award- these doofs try to cut in and it messes all up!
THEY NEED TO STOP!
we don't want to watch them talk anyway! Why won't they let us see the videos of the recipients?
grrrrrrrrr
They keep cutting in and it's messed up- then they go to a fan video.
DO THEY REALLY THINK WE WANT TO SEE THAT instead of what everyone is seeing at the ceremony? ugh
Asha 31st January 2010, 12:15 AM They're on the Lifetime Achievement awards now. OMG, they NEED to stop showing those two!!! It messes up everytime they switch to them. If they make us miss MJ's award I'll be really mad
TomV87 31st January 2010, 12:15 AM If we stand one behind the other, we can use one bullet!!
vargak 31st January 2010, 12:16 AM these 2 again! OK now I am not happy! Everytime they come on the feed stops...they dont make sense...and btw who are they ?? Is this how they honour legends by adding stupid comments or videos from the net? This is "communication technology" going stupid...Live feed then leave it live feed....keep the camera in the room!
I will twitter them to shut up!
angel2 31st January 2010, 12:16 AM They just interrupted someone's speech for a lifetime achievement award- right?
annoying........
and makes me worry they might do the same thing when (if) Paris/Prince are up there accepting Michael's!
:kungfu:
That will be totally unacceptable .... and it looks likely to happen!!!!
SMITTYWA 31st January 2010, 12:16 AM These Fan videos, they suck big time omg I wonder how many people are seeing this...
ZIP-A-DEE-DOO-DAH 31st January 2010, 12:16 AM I am not amused.
