'Thriller' zombies to take over Tribeca Film Festival
OK, so this may be the coolest thing we hear about and then do this week, perhaps even this month.

This Thursday (April 24) at 7:30 p.m. at the TriBeCa Drive-In (North Cove at the World Financial Center), they will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson's epic "Thriller" music video.

This was a groundbreaking event in 1984, and all these years later, it remains the greatest video ever made. A bold statement, to be sure, but name one that is better.

“Thriller” video director John Landis will be on-hand during the screening and the classic "Making of Thriller" video to follow. Folks will teach you the Thriller dance -- as if you don't remember it -- and then join in for the world's largest zombie disco. There's a face-painting station, too, so ghoul it up, son! P.S. It's free!

Get more info here and watch the entire video below -- the ENTIRE video just the way it debuted on MTV in 1984 -- just because you know you want to kill a few minutes at work today. (Note: The video player takes a few seconds to load and you might get hit with a 15-second commercial firs, but "This is Thriller, Thriller Night" and no one's gonna save you from the commercial beast that's about to strike, so deal with it.)

Hey, hun. Is it safe in that area of New York? I mean, I was in Harlem for over 8 hours for James Brown's viewing and that was weird, but nice. I'm just glad I got to say my farewell to James. Is this part of the city nice, or should I bring protection? LOL.

MjsCinderella32

He is also known for American Werewolf in London, which is apparently what prompted Michael to work with Landis in the first place.

And yes, Michaholic, from what i can gather, John will be there.

John will be in attendance, and Micaholic to answer your question here is a map taken directly from the Tribeca Film Festival web site. Just choose the destination you will be coming from and hopefully this should help you. If it does not I highly recommend Mapquest.com

Here is a close up of the Thriller 25 poster and me showing off the glove that they handed out! They let us dip out hand in glitter, so that was cool. However, they actually used duck tape to tape the posters on. Since my friend and I were there from 12:00PM and on, I kept harassing them about it. I asked if I could have one and they kept yelling at me. The reason I kept begging was because they said to me that they were going to destroy them after the event, but if we wanted them, we'd have to rip them off after the event was done. Well... I harassed the guy so much, he gave me 2 MINT posters before even being hung with the suck tape. Now, I have never seen these versions of the Thriller 25 promo posters, so I am assuming these are very rare. The size is bigger than 24x36, which is also another big plus!!! :D

I thanked him for everything he had done for Michael and told him that he needs to work with Michael again.

I went to the event with nothing and came home with the 2 posters, a glitter glove, a zombie makeover, a Deluxe Casebook Edition of Thriller 25 that I won in that trivia contest... AND, I had Jon Landis and Vincent Patterson (Zombie in Thriller, gang leader in Beat It and assisted in some choreography) autograph my Deluxe Casebook Edition of Thriller 25! How cool is it to have Jon Landis write MY name and autograph my Thriller 25? I also, came home with this cool popcorn bag... Hey, come on. It referenced Thriller and makes a wonderful addition to my collection! The best thing I came home with were the memories of my first Michael Jackson fan celebration... And what occasion? THRILLER!! And who with? JON FREAKING LANDIS!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Fantastic report! So glad you enjoyed it.

I'm V. jealous! I bet Thriller & making of on a big screen was amazing.

As lest we not forget, John Landis was also director of Blues Brothers and the classic American Werewolf In London (one of the best films ever).

As all of you can see Micaholic and I had a fantastic time at this event. I had such a wonderful time meeting Micaholic and also many other fans there as well. I was most of the time alongside my friends Pete Carter (that Michael Jackson impersonator you saw in the previous photos) and Beverly along with Reva. I had such a fantastic time. There were loads of media coverages there and I got interviewed about the event and why I love Michael and such for our local news, along with CNN and HD News. John Landis stopped in as well and made a wonderful (and funny) appearance speaking about his experiences with Michael while making Thriller. All of it was such a joy, and the weather was absolutely perfect for the event. I took loads of pictures as well and videos too. I plan to make a video bunching all of my pictures and videos together for my youtube viewers to see so be sure you stay tuned to my channel!!

This event was just unbelievable, you'll see when you watch my video! It included things like a dance contest (in which a little five year old kid won) a Thriller Trivia contest, and screenings of Thriller and the Making Of Thriller with Joh Landis. Also, a performance by the cast of Step It Up & Dance (on Bravo) which was awesome too.

I don't know about Cinderella, but I think I speak for us both when I say I had a GREAT time.

It was my very first Michael Jackson celebration... I celebrated Thriller this time around and it feels good because I wasn't alive for the first time! And I'm sure it's even more special now that everyone knows it's the biggest album and last celebration, they didn't!

And who better to celebrate it with than John Landis??! I love him, I miss him! He's so sweet in person, really. Michael would have made it even better, but I do think that it will be years before I have another party as wonderful as this one was... The only way I will be able to have a better party is if Michael were there himself!!

I am so bummed out, though... I want to go back...

New York is a famous place and LOTS of people live there. ;) If they had it in Utah or Idaho, what would be "big" about that? I have no problems with it, but New York.. I don't know. To me, it seems more bigger, better and official. :P

All Three of us at the end of the night.

This event was just unbelievable, you'll see when you watch my video! It included things like a dance contest (in which a little five year old kid won) a Thriller Trivia contest, and screenings of Thriller and the Making Of Thriller with Joh Landis. Also, a performance by the cast of Step It Up & Dance (on Bravo) which was awesome too.

cool pics:yes:
u must have very excited...

Where was this event? I'm pretty sure my Mom would let me go if I knew where it was!

It was in New York City. Right next to where the World Trade Centers were, literally...

I still can't believe I was blessed enough to be able to attend that celebration...

I must say it was a wonderful night, both Micaholic and I had such a wonderful time although we were not together very long due to the chaos with the party itself. Aside from that my friend Pete Carter was that impersonator you see in all those pictures, and he asked me to follow him around for the entire evening taking pictures so I began to do that but then took some time to just sit and talk with Micaholic and my other fan friends there- but it was a fantastic night absolutely

I live about 4 hours away from where it happened. Trust me, if you want it bad enough, you'll make it work. ;) Even if you live in TX.
