My World was awful. I have it - chock full of pics I've seen, not that many pages and it cost more than it should have. I recall Raymone saying it's not actually endorsed by MJ.

TBH, I'm not sure how great quality the pics will be in for T25. I was disappointed with the pics in my hardback T25 album. Too many not HQ, too many pics were simply cropped to make 'new' pics and the thing wasn't stuck onto the hardback straight! :rant:

Seriously, that sucked. :laugh: It wasn't actually officially approved by MJ like they said it was, and the pictures were just the same old, same old. It was just some sort of picture book more than anything. Not very good really.

considering "MY World" it was published by MJJ Licensing and had nothing to do with LEGACY or direct michael publishing company.

the MJJ LICENSING had the rights (Dieter's company) for some rare and not rare MJ Pictures (like the OMC set ones)

^^^It was promoted to be more than it actually was, T. :yes: And when you got it in your hands you realised just how thin the thing is and then it's full of pics you've seen on fan boards.

There aren't any rare pics in it that I hadn't seen before I got the book. :no: It promised to have rare pics, but it was rubbish. The quality of the pages isn't all that great tho the pics make it look that way.

Yep, MJJ Licensing is Dieter Wiesner. He conned MJ out of $1million and the rights - I think it came out around the trial.

Ooh - this looks interesting. I'm waiting to see the design of the book. Even though I had already seen pretty much all the photos in the deluxe edition of T25, the overall aesthetic pleased me. And I guess it would bu fun to get just to add to my collection :yes:. That 'My World' book does look like crap though, so if anyone here gets the T25 book - let us know what it's like!

Hmm, wouldn't the T25 book be better off coming out at the end of the year though? Well maybe not, but then they could put in transcripts of all the Thrillercasts & possibly flesh out the book more. :hmm:

Amazon.com (and many other sites) say that it's going to be paperback. However, I read on a French forum it is rumoured that the book will be released in a special Thriller 25 box. that would be friggin amazing of course. But this is NOT CONFIRMED YET, I hope we'll get more information on this soon. I'm really excited:wild:

As much as I'd love to read to see what all the other guys who worked on it have to say, I really hope Michael is in there talking about the album in detail. He was the real reason behind the success and the gloved hand that propelled it to amazing sales.

Some new information regarding release of Thriller 25: The Book-

Maximum Jackson has just been informed by the publisher (ML-publishing) that the release of the book has been pushed back to October 30, because of requests for changes by the licensor. They have said that Mr Jackson wants the book to be "perfect for his fans". In addition, sales in Europe of the book were unauthorized and have been stopped. Distribution for the book in Australia is not planned- the publisher is focusing on US, Japan and Europe.

We have been told that we will be kept updated in regards to the release of the book, including upcoming TV commercials for the book :)

So - the book that I have got is not the last version of Thriller 25??? :unsure:

I received a copy of the book yesterday, and here's my review:

Thriller 25 book review


Thriller 25: The Book is a beautifully presented book- housed in a cardboard slipcase with a beautifully glossy and exciting cover and a cute bonus Thriller 25 bookmark.

Evidently, a lot of care has been taken with presenting the book and celebrating Thriller’s 25th Anniversary in written format. It exceeded my expectations in terms of content: information, photographs and presentation.

It’s an absolute pleasure to read and skim through and the photographs have been presented wonderfully. Handwritten lyrics, quotes from various artists and icons, and trivia are dispersed throughout the book.

The book includes interviews from Quincy Jones, Rod Temperton, Bob Giraldi, Matt Forger, John Landis and Tamara Conniff.

The book opens with dedications to Michael Peters and Marlon Brando, and ends with Michael Jackson’s words: thank you’s to fans, friends, Marlon Brando and James Brown, “who continues to be my biggest inspiration”, words from Hindu and a William Blake Poem, “The Tyger”. The back inside cover has a photo of a large tiger and the words: “Michael Jackson- THE TIGER KEEPS ON PURRING”.

The book starts with a rundown of Thriller specs- including charts and MTV. The book includes details of the songs Wanna Be Startin Somethin, Billie Jean, Beat it, We Are The World, and Thriller. Some exciting features are presented on Michael’s filmmaking (from Thriller and beyond), Thriller merchandising, The Victory Tour, Michael’s speech from the 2006 WMA’s, Vincent Price, the Thriller cover art and so much more. The book ends with details of the making of Thriller 25, the campaigns and promotion including “Thrillicious”, Michael’s photoshoots and quotes from today’s entertainment icons about Thriller and Michael Jackson.

Some interesting facts and trivia are presented throughout, including Michael’s awards for Thriller, plays of Thriller songs today, merchandising, the cover picture and more. There are some rare pictures and pictures I’d personally never seen before.

With the detail and care taken with Michael’s legacy and the legacy of the Thriller album in this book- it is well worth the purchase price. Fans will very much enjoy and treasure this book for years to come.


Just a personal note:

Admittedly, most of the information in the book I personally already knew, so there wasn’t much new information for me, aside from a few bits of trivia, details about Thriller 25 itself, and the Thrillicious campaign. It doesn’t matter though- this is a book aimed at fans, for fans, and it’s quite amazing to have the interviews, pictures and handwritten lyrics in book format.

"My World" was an official photobook by Michael (or let's say by one of Michael's companies). It featured a lot of full size photographs and a few poems including the lyrics to song written to us fans, entitled "You Are So Beautiful."

However, the quality of the book was not all that great and it was very expensive given the fact that it consisted out of 60 pages. However, it is a super-rare collectors item, because it was sold out within three months or so :toofunny: and is now out of print and nowhere available anymore.

I just ordered a copy from Barne & Nobles. I saw a video clip online of the book and by the looks of it, this book has EVERYTHING about the thriller era, and THriller: 25, also MJ's legacy. Very nice coffee table type item, nice glossy pages, lots of great photos and interesting trivia fact. AND a bookmark for one of my zillion books I'm working on :laughing:

None of my local stores had it either, so I had to have the store order it for me and then I went and picked it up.

Its a GREAT book, you won't be dissapointed.

I really need to get this book and the Thriller 25 album. I wasn't alive when Thriller was released in 1982, but its good to be around for the 25th Anniversary re-release and have a copy! Woo!

As far as i know from some official source, the re-release of the book is canceled so this is the only version to be out on da street.

the book is around 28-32$ and 7-10$ shipping which is a good price for this great book!

Waterstones just sent me mine, was abt £17

I checked for the book at Borders and Barnes & Noble and they're not selling it in the store for some reason, I don't know why, so we ordered it. I can't wait to get it and tear open the box!:D:laughing:

As for the claims about the book being unofficial, it's been closed because the claims bring certain fans and fansites into it, aside from some other issues. It's just here (http://www.maximum-jackson.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=6811). You're welcome to PM me about it if you like. :)

Even if it's not official, it's a really nice book and I'm enjoying it.:wink:
I haven't noticed that many mistakes yet, just that some of the pictures in the book could be better quality, most of them are though.
