Jackson Five pair sue Daily Star over 'flat broke' allegations

27 March 2008

Two former members of the Jackson Five are planning to sue the Daily Star, just over a week after it printed an unprecedented front page apology to the family of missing girl Madeline McCann.

Jermaine and Tito Jackson have instructed their lawyers to “take all necessary action” against the Express Newspapers title for “untrue and defamatory” allegations published in yesterday’s paper.

The paper led with a front page story yesterday headlined “Jackson five hit the skids” that claimed that all five members of the hit 1970s group were facing financial difficulties. The piece was labelled as “Another Daily Star showbiz exclusive”.

Legal firm Swan Turton said the pair were particularly annoyed by the suggestion that Tito is playing gigs for £250 a night and that Jermaine is still living off his earnings from an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother last year. Lawyer Jonathan Coad said the Jacksons “strenuously deny” the allegations.

Robbie Williams sued a newspaper claiming he was gay and won. I dont know why Michael and the family dont sue every single person who does this to them. You can report NEWS but reporting something untrue is just not on!

Ayee, its wrong that they print actual lies.
Their sources are clearly unreliable, but yet they make it out to be someone who is 'close.' When really it's just probably a member of the public

Did you see Alan Carr on the Friday Night Project talk about it though

Alan is hilarious

Damn tabloids.

Isn't there a war going on in a rack or something?

Maybe if they printed news about it, we'd know where it was...

This was actually all over the radio.
I was kinda ticked when I heard it on the bus.

Tabloids. Must. Burn.

We'll have to gather all the papers together and set them on fire

If they burn, they're OK

If they don't, they're tabloids...in which case, we tear them to shreds.

Of course, that would be a waste of a forrest, but...y'know...whatever...

I absolutely agree with you there Damien, I mean can you imagine it would really make the media think. Especially with some of the defamatory and horrible things they have said about Michael over the last 20 years or his whole life there has to be something going on with the media. Michael does deserve some compensation for it but then again Michael is not all about money he is not money hungry and he is sick of court rooms which I do not blame him.

I really wish something could be done because its so sad that so many talk about Michael from what they hear in the media and in tabloids and its no where near true its like they dreamt that story or rumour overnight. And it hurts not just Michael and his kids and his family but fans too because we are all a big family.

I think we should burn all the :censoree: tabloids. I mean, they've already wasted trees on MAKING the :censoree: things, so why not burn them? We wouldn't be wasting trees, since they've already been wasted to print such stupid :censoree: lies. :D (:censoree: <-- Thank God for that smilie! :D )
