View Full Version : Confirmed New Album Collaborations & Info/Quotes
damien 31st January 2008, 05:43 AM Hi there guys, im Damien, your resident news guru. I thought i'd start off here by posting a thread I created at another forum, designed to help people distinguish between fact and rumour regarding the NEW album MJ is working on.
This thread is designed to prove:
YES - There IS a NEW album coming
NO - Thriller 25 was NOT that new album
This thread will show WHO Michael has collaborated with to date, and what they have been able to say about their experiences so far.
This thread contains STRICTLY QUOTES ONLY! It will not contain rumours or gossip. All quotes have been checked and definately came from the person I am quoting, in the exact words I have written. I have not used any information that did not come directly from the mouth of someone who has collaberated on the new album, spoken directly to Michael Jackson or been present during a recording session.
The below quotes are in dated order (oldest to newest):
Enjoy:)
**Please note that Michael has made these people sign confidentiality agreements in regards to the finer details of this project**

Michael Jackson speaks to Billy Bush from Access Hollywood October 2006
(asked if he is writting music again) I never stopped (smiles).. I'm always writing a potpourri of music, you know, it's how it is.
Will.i.am speaks to Billy Bush from Access Hollywood October 2006
Something needs to put a jolt back in the music industry. And the only thing that can do that is the jolt itself. The energy that sparked the imagination of the kids that are... me, you know, the Justin Timberlake's, we're all products of this. (Motions to Michael) So the only person that can put that jolt back in to that monstrosity of entertainment and music is the one who created that. (Motions to Michael again)
Michael Jackson speaks to reporters at World Music Awards November 2006
(asked if he has started recording new material)
Yes.
(so far its going)
Excellent.
(is the king of pop back)
Yes.
Im putting it together; mainly writing it myself.. and working with other people.
Will.i.am talks to Rolling Stone November 2006
(Published February 8th, 2007)
For a month we probably talked three times a week. He'd be like, "I need you to dig deep inside! Do something that's unprecedented!" He'd hum a little melody over the phone or something. Eight song sketches were conjured out of phone conversations, then we met up in Ireland for a week and finished three ideas. We tracked one song--the running title is "I'm Dreamin'."
He just said, "Great melodies." In January we'll spend a month together. I want it to sound like Off the Wall for today. He's been really open to ideas. But as far as his vocal abilities are concerned, he's still killing everybody.
Will.i.am talks to Billboard.com in January 2007
Man, he still sings like a bird. He could go anywhere. I think we have a real opportunity to do something here. It's either gonna be really big or nobody's gonna care. Ain't no middle ground on this one.
Will.i.am speaks to reporters at Cannes MidemNet Conference January 2007
Michael Jackson is working day and night on this great, great record. I heard and see him in the studio and he is creating a masterpiece. A lot of people in the industry are involved or want to be involved. From producers to marketing people.
Raymone Bain statement re: Michael's current career situation 2007
"He hasn't made up his mind about whether a Vegas show is in the cards for him," stated his rep, Raymone Bain. "He's been in the studio since November 2006 working on his music. He's been presented with various proposals. A Vegas show isn't a priority". "He's in Las Vegas now. He's pretty grounded in Vegas. It's very convenient for producers and songwriters to get to him. He's worked there before. He's been recording with producers Rodney Jerkins, will.i.am and Neff-U"
Akon talks to Rolling Stone in April 2007
I'm excited, im highly excited because I think it's gonna be magic when we get together.
All the stuff that he's going through, that he's been through the past two years, the stuff that's been out in the media... the stuff that hasn't been out, I think he needs to just take all that (and) put it in his records. It's a big story.
Nobody's ever really heard Mike's story... People go by what they heard or what they're told but nobody never really heard him and his story, and what captivated all those movements. If he takes that and accepts what's been out there and expresses his opinion, express his feelings, express what he felt on a record I think it'd take his whole album to a whole 'nother level because the album now becomes a soundtrack of his life from that point to this point and that's something people are gonna want to know about - that's something people are going to want to hear from him. And with his voice, and with our melodies, with the way and how we can bring it across I think it would be incredible.
Big Chuck (uncle of Neff-U) re: Michael's new album tracks
(Michael is) ready to take over the world. He's got some hot records. Will.I.Am did one, Teddy Riley (did one). We're giving Michael a lot of edgy street records. He's putting melodies to some hard party records.
Akon speaks to a reporter July 2007
(asked what he is doing with MJ) Whoo! It's gonna be incredible. He's incredible. I see why now he is so big. He is a genius. Yeah, he's a genius.
Producer Syience SOHH Exclusive July 2007
"I'm actually working on music for him now," he said. "I always wanted to be a part of anything he ever did. Nobody really knows what Michael Jackson is going to do. Even the biggest producers and writers are not sure what's going to happen with that, but we are all sitting back and still creating and trying to get on the project. They asked me to work on the project so we're working on it."
Will.i.am revealing two song titles Feb & August 2007
Rolling Stone magazine article published in February of 2007 stated that the pair had drafted eight new songs and physically tracked one, titled "I'm Dreamin'".
On the 13th of August 2007, will.i.am told reporters at a Black Eyed Peas press conference in South Korea that another track he recorded with Jackson is titled "The Future". Another song title that will.i.am has revealed is "Still The King".
Will.i.am speaks to Times Online in August 2007
[Jackson's] voice is still incredible. It’s not about crazy beats that are going be here today and gone tomorrow, but melodies that will stay for a lifetime.
Will.i.am speaking to Ryan Seacrest in August 2007
I went to Ireland to work with Mike, that was a great experience.
We probably did like 3 or 4 songs - 2 of them are (finished)
I dont know when he's gonna put em out, its his project, ya know - I'd put em out tomorrow!
(how is he doin?) Awesome - (how was he to work with?) The freshest.
When i was with him it was super-duper place, ya know - Flying to Ireland, and being there for like a week, this great facility, great studios, great vibe, great atmosphere - it was just the awesomest.
(the songs) Are just feel-good joints - just really feel-good songs. I wrote 2 songs, then he wrote one song, and we wrote one song together.
Will.i.am talks to Rolling Stone magazine September 2007
We’re taking it day by day, we’ve finished some songs. I like what I’m doing, I’m really happy with it, but it’s not my project to talk about. I could be talking about song titles what they sound like and be excited about it, but those songs I made may not make his record and then I look like an idiot.
Will.i.am at Pepsi/BEP press conference 2007
I've done 3 songs with Michael Jackson now, and maybe it will come out next year - we dont know - but ima continue to work with Michael Jackson.. yep.
(asked about the sound of the tracks) I heard it (laughs). Yeah, its pretty amazing, yep. But i cant, you know its Michael Jackson, I cant talk about it.
Will.i.am talks to AP in September 2007
Just working on records, making music, working on stuff for his next project. I'd be like, ''Hey Mike, you like this?'' (He imitates Jackson's voice) ''It's all right, it's cool. But I think we need something a little bit bigger.'' OK, if you don't want it, I'll just put it over here (on my album). Ain't nothing to me, just drag the little folder to the ''will ''folder (laughs)
Ne-yo backstage at MOBO Awards September 2007
Michael Jackson.. definately workin' with him right now, putting some stuff together. Umm, i can't talk about it a whole lot, you know, he's very much tryin' to keep it mysterious, but ahh, it's definately gonna be something worth checking out.
Will.i.am talks to Trevor Nelson (Radio 1) September 2007
So we're talking on the phone talking about ideas and two months later i fly out to Ireland and we, you know, start making some songs. Then four months later i fly out to Vegas and we make, you know, in the studio again. But about time the record comes out i dont know, he could be like "you know, the songs were cool ya know.. i dont think ima use them". I dont know. All i know is i work with the dude so..
Will.i.am on German MTV in September 2007
(about jackson's new album) Melodies, it's all about the melodies. About the melodies and the kind of grooves you will play 10 years from now - Anticipate 10 years from now.
Will.i.am speaks to Kim Halling on The Voice Tv September 2007
I cant even consider Michael Jackson's record a comeback record; i dont think he's ever left. You know, 'Thriller', 'Off The Wall', 'Beat It', 'Billie Jean', 'I'm Bad', 'Dangerous', 'Dirty Diana', like, you still go to clubs around the world, they're still playing this man's music. So regardless if they're not selling, like just come out like ever Tuesday, right.. A record comes out every Tuesday.. and no record has been as monumental as his records. So, you can keep on releasing records every Tuesday but his records will always be important to the planet; So, this is just another Michael Jackson record. You know, and im doing my best to try and, you know, make infectious melodies and nice grooves that could play in the clubs or play on your iphone or ipod or on internet or whatever. Where ever its gonna play, thats what we're trying to make. Workin with Mike, its like, there needs to be a new terminology. Its like, workin' with Michael Jackson!
Kanye West on Michael Jackson October 2007
I'm working on stuff for Michael Jackson. If I like a person's outlet or what a person brings to the table then I'll speak to them.
Will.i.am talks to Sydney (Australia) reporter October 2007
We ... treat Michael Jackson as a new artist and just make songs with infectious melodies. The songs will speak for themselves. I am sworn to silence or Michael is known to get pretty violent (laughs).
Akon to MTV in November 2007
He's a genius. Just to be in the same room [with him], I felt everything I wanted to accomplish in life has been achieved. That aura ... that's how incredible that aura is. We about to shake the world up, man. You know how you be with somebody and you can't even explain [the feeling]? I used to sit and think, 'How does somebody sell so many records and dominate a whole business genre, to a point [where] nobody can't be a part of that without associating with you?' The way he thinks ... some artists think regional, some think national, I was thinking international. He thinks planets. It's on another level."
Michael Jackson talks to Bryan Monrow from Ebony Magazine November 2007
(asked can we expect more of Michael Jackson)
I'm writting alot of stuff right now. I'm in the studio, like, every day. I think, like, the rap thing that is happening now, when it first came out, I always felt that it was gonna take more of a melodic structure to make it more universal, 'cause not everyone speak English. (laughs) And you're limited to your country. But when you have a melody, and everybody can hum a melody, then that's when it became France, The Middle East, everywhere! All over the world because they put that melodic, linear thread in there. You have to be able to hum it, from the farmer in Ireland to the lady who scrubs toilets in Harlem to anybody who can whistle to a child poppin' their fingers. You have to be able to hum it.
Ne-yo speaks to The Voice November 16th 2007
Yes, yes. I am currently submitting songs for Michael Jackson's new project.. ahh I don't know when it's coming out.. Really not much else i can say about it other than I have had conversations with the man.. Ive actually met him.. You know we talked about where he wants to go this time and everything and um, the KEY thing he was saying is that to keep it very hush hush.. he don't want no song titles coming out, no nothin. He want's the world to be shocked and surprised when it comes out.
(Reporter says will.i.am said it might come out next year [2008])
Um, it's possible, it's possible. He said he definately wants it to come out soon. Yeah.
(Asked about will.i.am calling Ne-yo about working with MJ)
Yes yes, we are actually supposed to be doing some songs together but you know his schedule has him over here and mine has me over here so we're trying to work it out.
Will.i.am speaking to reporters November 2007
The sh** is awesome.
(when will the album be finished?) I dont know. Mike, Mike is ahh, he's real like.. fine-tune king. Whenever he says 'go'.
Ne-yo gives radio interview December 2007
(when asked what he did for Michael Jackson) I can't talk about it. They won't let me, they, you know - He wants to world to be shocked. They said, let it be known that your working with him, but you cant give no song titles, you cant go into detail. And out of respect for the King you, i gotta.. (stops talking) Thats real respect right there.
(asked when its being released) I'm not sure. He's taking his time on it and being extra extra picky, you know. This is gonna be a big album for him - So he's taking his time, yeah.
(asked how many songs he submitted) I've submitted a bunch of songs, you, we have conversations about it but i dont know exactly what he's gonna use.
Akon talks on radio interview December 2007
(asked why he got in late) I was workin on MJ's new project. Yeah man, working on his new project, getting ready to launch his album. Oh man he got a surprise for you guys for Superbowl. Yeah man the guy's about to and take over 2008.
(asked is it a performance) I cant say anything.
I didnt say he was gonna perform. Im not gonna tell you too much, i may have told you too much already.
You see Mike has something totally separate going on, its just happening around the Superbowl time, so, ill give you a hint - His prescence will be felt around that time.
Carlos Santana on Mas Vale Tarde with Alex Cambert January 2008
Michael, called me not too long ago and he asked me to work with him and Quincy Jones which both are back working together again.
Akon talks to Power 106 in January 2008
Host: And then aside from that.. (Thriller 25).. Michael's probably, hes working on...
Akon: A new album.
Hosts: A new Michael Jackson album?
Akon: Yeah!
Hosts: That's gonna be ridiculous!
Neyo on BET honors red carpet January 2008
Um, things are coming along nicely. You know Mike is definately being very picky, which he needs, you know, which he needs to be you know this is a very important album.. he's taking his time, but umm.. I think its gonna be good, I think its gonna be good.
Akon speaks to LIVE105.3 pre-Grammys February 8 2008
Yeah For his tribute album. And im pretty much, you know doing the majority of his new album as well.
(is it being recorded in the states?) Well, depends, where ever we decide to do it you know whatever Mike's feelin'. We might fly off to Aruba for that day and do a record and fly back. That's how he moves, yeah.
Neyo speaks to Artisan News pre-Grammys February 2008
[I]Asked if him and will.i.am were supposed to be working together on Michael's album..
Yeah! That was a little while ago.. We been trying, but we still haven't worked together on Michael's stuff.. I mean because he (will.i.am) was in the process of promoting an album and I was doing my thing so we never really got it together.. but, I have been working with Mike, doing some stuff for him, submitting some songs to him and it's coming along nicely.
----Thriller 25 in stores here. Everything after this point was said after Thriller 25 came out-----
60 seconds with Ne-Yo in February 2008
I think (releasing Thriller 25) is a good idea before he goes with the new album. He's coming up with a new one that I'm working with him on.
Akon speaks to The Voice Late February 2008
Oh Mike is good.. Mike is so focused. His next project is gonna be amazing.
(Asked: Are you gonna work with him?)
Absolutely
Have you already started working with him?
Absolutely.. So look out for that, its gonna be crazy.
Ne-Yo talks about MJ album on 27 April 2008
What can you tell us?
Uh, nothing that would get me in trouble. He was very adamant about nobody knowing what's going on. No explanations, not even song titles. But we are working together and it's coming along nicely. He's being very selective.
Akon speaks to Dave and Jimmy 27 April 2008
Q: Did we hear that during the week, just last week, you were with Michael Jackson in the studio?
Akon: I might have been. (laughter) Yo, im sorry I'm not fully, like, informational today but it's like the questions you guys are askin' are all like, covert operations.
Q: Asked was it as good working with MJ as Akon thought it would be..
Akon: Oh but it actually was when we did the first record.
Q: Yeah you obviously did the song with him, was it cool? What was it like?
Akon: It was incredible.
Q: Is he as cool as he seems?
Akon: He's the coolest dude you ever could meet.
Q: Does he hang out, or does he just like show up?
Akon: Well that's one thing he don't do much. He don't hang out. He would like to, but he just can't you know. He would love to though but he cant. You gotta go after hours.
Ne-yo speaks to 933 on 8 May 2008
What about the rumor you're workin' with Michael Jackson..
That is not a rumor, that's true. I'm submitting songs for his project.. they're being very very picky and patient, and tellin' me to be patient because he's.. honestly, i dunno what he's doing. I don't know what he's doing. Like, we'll submit songs and then he'll call and say, "Hey i really like number three, and the hook on number two is strong but you could change the verse, okay bye". Yeah, i've spoke to him on the phone. I actually got a chance to go and meet him - All of that, yeah.
RedOne speaks 16 May 2008
About MJ...
Honestly, I’m not allowed to talk about Michael at all. I just love him. I’m a big fan of his. There’s something going on, but I can’t talk about it.
About Vegas and the studio
The studio, it’s incredible. The sound is amazing and so is Las Vegas. I love Las Vegas. We get a lot of peace of mind in Las Vegas. It’s very nice. It feels good working in Vegas. It’s very convenient, so close to L.A. It’s like a dream world that helps you musically and creatively.
Ne-yo goes "1 on 1" with DJ Ekin 2 June 2008
I'm actually in the process of doing songs for Michael Jackson.. for his new project. Oh yeah, well, I'm trying anyway.. Im submitting songs, and ah, he'll call me and say, 'yeah I really like number 3, number 2 is aight, change the hook on number 1 and send it back to me', and then, you know, that would be it.. So I dunno what's gonna happen.. I dunno what he gonna keep or whatever but, just he fact that he even got a hold of me and was like, 'Yo, I really want you to put some stuff together for my album', thats like.. that was enough for me.. I called my mum and like I wowed out.. it was one of those.
Q: When's the album coming out?
I have no idea! That's why I say im trying.. because this has been going on for like a few months now, you know what I mean like.. He's being real selective, real picky.. because I mean it's gonna be a real important if it comes out you know so, I dunno.
Swizz Beatz speaks to MTV 17 June 2008
I'm working on this new Michael Jackson sh-t, I'm probably gonna be producing his tour and everything.
Christian Audigier tells LA Times in June 2008
It's gonna be the new look of Michael, of course. He's preparing a new album and a new tour, and I'm working on a collection to celebrate all the icons of rock, pop and funk. This is what I want to do in my collection for him.
Sean Garrett speaks, posted 8 July 2008
I love Michael Jackson... I'm having a blast working with Mike. Mike is one of the greatest entertainers of all time, and it's just a blessing.
Ne-yo talks to New York Mag 23 July 2008
Working with MJ?
Yeah, Michael's putting together a new album, and I'm helping him out with it. He said he had a very high appreciation for my appreciation for melody. His music is all about the melody, and that's the only sort of real direction he gave me: 'Just make sure the song is as melodic as possible. I want to get back to that.'
Ne-yo submits tracks via MP3 on email, then..
He'll call me back and say, 'I really like song No. 3. Song No. 4, the hook could be stronger. Song No. 1, change the first verse. Okay, bye.' Click. And then I redo them and he's like, 'Okay, they're perfect. Send me more.' So I don't know what he's keeping, what he's getting rid of, what he's recording.
Is the King of Pop coming back?
He's definitely trying. He's trying to get back to a place where people remember why they love Michael Jackson in the first place. In the beginning, you didn't care about Michael Jackson's personal life. It was about his dancing and his music. That was why you loved Mike. He's trying to get back there. And I'm trying to help.
Ne-yo talks to Digital Spy 4 August 2008
You know, he's never told me he didn't like something and not given me a reason as to why. I've been working on some songs for his new album and if he doesn't like something he'll explain to me why he doesn't like it. He'll say, 'I just think the melody could be better' or 'I think that a stronger lyric could go here'. We haven't actually gotten the opportunity to work in the studio yet. As of right now it's all phone calls and emails and mp3s and I'm not really allowed to say anything about it.
RedOne in National Ledger 6 August 2008
It's not like it's a secret, it's just that nobody knows (when the album is being released). When it comes to Michael, I'm not allowed to talk about the recording, but I can say he's unbelievable, honestly the best that music has ever known, the ultimate star, artist, musician. Every other star I work with, I tell them I'm working with Michael Jackson, and they're like 'Oh, my God!' And when I tell him, he's so humble and polite, he's like, 'Oh, thank you.'
Neyo speaks about new album 13 August 2008
We talked about music, where he wanted to go direction-wise, how we'd get the records to one another. It was a very calm, regular meeting. We're trying to get people to ignore the rumours about his personal life and get back to the reason why we loved Michael Jackson in the first place, the entertainment value. We want to get the music right. He's still dancing, doing his thing; it should be good.
RedOne talk to Swedish newspaper 19 August 2008
About MJ:
Michael is such a perfectionist in everything he does, every detail is perfect. It's all ear candy. Me and Akon were watching him work in the studio, laughing like little children. He is a super nice and polite guy. I was shocked when I had dinner with him, he is so knowledgable about so many things, a real business man, and very intelligent.
About the new material:
It's very melodic. Very pop. I have no idea when his album will be out. He works with a line of different producers.
Tito Jackson speaks about MJ's new album BMI red carpet 5 September 2008
One other rumour we're hearing.. Michael's working on a new album. What can you tell us about that?
Well he's working hard in the studio and he hopefully will come out with it soon and as you know Michael's a very hard worker so I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a great album.
This post will be updated as more valid quotes become available :)

damien 25th February 2008, 02:00 PM Will.i.am talks to Rolling Stone November 2006
But as far as his vocal abilities are concerned, he's still killing everybody.
tinker*bell 26th February 2008, 03:58 AM Thanks Damien!! ;)
It's still very nice to hear these comments on his new album. :) Makes me wanna buy it just as soon as it pops out!! :wild:

Absolutely.. So look out for that, its gonna be crazy.

Thanks Damien. Was that after T25? By 'next project' do you think he meant 'new album'?
damien 7th April 2008, 09:36 AM Ne-yo speaks to The Voice November 16th 2007
Yes yes, we are actually supposed to be doing some songs together but you know his schedule has him over here and mine has me over here so we're trying to work it out.
damien 7th April 2008, 09:38 AM Thanks Damien. Was that after T25? By 'next project' do you think he meant 'new album'?
Title has date, late Feb, meaning T25 was already in stores when Akon gave that interview;) So it can only mean NEW album

No worries champ. I always try to get the dates on the title of the quote so people know how to interpret what the people are saying. That Akon one is one of my faves. Mike being focused ect. Least Akon is reporting Mike's attitude towards the work he is doing, and that attitude is the best thing it could possibly be:)

Stranger In Pittsburgh 13th April 2008, 04:36 PM Unfortunately, I came across your post a day too late. We had been having argument after argument with this one girl on the forum and the reason why I copied and pasted your post to mjfc was because it answered a lot of the things that she simply was not wanting to hear, however, she was banned the day before I posted this on mjfc...
But I guess I wanted to explain with this post why I posted it on MJFC, because I felt that we had been having a lot of discouragment and a lot of unnecessary arguments that could be answered with your research that you have done Damien, so i want to thank you for posting this because everyone on MJFC loves it and I hope that it's not a problem that I took the liberty of doing so, and like I said in the previous post, the entire post is quoted with your name at the top so that there is no confusion as to who actually took the time to do this research and I have also reiterated on that forum that it was you whom everyone should thank.
Example:

There have been rumors and industry talk about the "New" upcoming cd release for a very long time now.
I can fully understand anyone's confusion or skeptisism. Jackson is being very secretive and its not as though we are being informed with official statements.

Michael Jackson.. definately workin' with him right now, putting some stuff together. Umm, i can't talk about it a whole lot, you know, he's very much tryin' to keep it mysterious, but ahh, it's definately gonna be something worth checking out.

DB: Can you address the rumors of you working with Michael Jackson on his new album?
Ne-Yo: I got to meet Michael and we talked about what he wants to do and what he wants the sound to be for the album. I've been submitting songs to Michael for a while now, but he's been very selective and picky with the new album.
alatariel4mj 16th April 2008, 01:32 AM Idk why he has to keep it SUCH a secret...can't he at least clarify that there will be an album!!!
we are not asking for song titles or anything, I JUST NEED TO KNOW IT WILL HAPPEN
I am so excited I can't wait...no matter what the album sounds like I know I will love it
HURRY MICHAEL!!!!!!
damien 30th April 2008, 01:40 PM Obviously this comes from a thread that exists already but i've updated the first post in this thread with this:
Ne-Yo talks about MJ album on 27 April 2008
What can you tell us?
Uh, nothing that would get me in trouble. He was very adamant about nobody knowing what's going on. No explanations, not even song titles. But we are working together and it's coming along nicely. He's being very selective.
:)
damien 5th May 2008, 02:54 PM So you all know, this below was BEFORE the Grammys (early Feb 08), meaning that although he says it never came together, it may have in the past 3 months (lets hope):)
Neyo speaks to Artisan News pre-Grammys February 2008
Asked if him and will.i.am were supposed to be working together on Michael's album..
Amanda-x 7th May 2008, 04:59 AM Is it just me, or is it only Ne-Yo who is being questioned about all this...
damien 7th May 2008, 06:46 AM Is it just me, or is it only Ne-Yo who is being questioned about all this...
haha yeah. I hate reporters for not asking the right questions. You can drill them for info in so many more areas than they do. Even in areas they can answer. Ask something new like "Is the album almost finished" or "Should MJ fans expect something in 2008?" or something like "Who else is working on the project that we dont know about yet?". Not just reporter - "i hear you're working with Michael"... neyo - "yeah but i cant say anything"... reporter - "oh okay neyo". ANNOYING!
Tony R 7th May 2008, 10:15 AM Exactly, be specific!
If they want the coup on the story stop asking the same crap. These people are supposed to be journalists!
damien 13th May 2008, 04:23 PM Ne-yo speaks to 933 on 8 May 2008
What about the rumor you're workin' with Michael Jackson..

I have no idea. What these dudes say can be interpreted a number of ways. I think possibly the album could be very close to finished - Maybe in the mixing/production/fine-tuning stages.. but that is based only on what we have read. It's a guess. My guess is a good as yours, or anyone's:)

Hey Damien thanks for all this info dude ur a star. Although in terms of the album I still think its very much in recording. I work with songwriters 24/7 and what Ne-Yo's said...to me anyway..seems like its still very much in recording and Michael hasn't yet got a bunch of tracks together that he is satisfied he can pick the final track list from.

Sure hope not.
Michael Jackson is the greatest and most professional live performer ever.
Akon is one of the least professional - he just stands around in the audience letting his backing singers sing his songs while letting the crowd feel him up.
dangerous_88 28th May 2008, 12:20 PM Oh fukk!
Sorry guyz but I just can't freaking stand Akon and if Michael gives it up to him I will be VERY VERY disappointed.
My honest opinion,so back off with jumping at me lol
MJJvibe 29th May 2008, 01:13 AM He may be collaborating 7 songs with him but only one will make it. In the past, since day one never has a guest artist had two collaborations selected for the final cut. Except that one time when Aretha Franklin and others couldn't make it for the "IJCSLY" collaboration so Siedah Garrett filled in.
RiskyBizness 29th May 2008, 02:22 AM This person has got to be delusional - but then again, I love a good rumour.

Marni 29th May 2008, 03:23 AM http://www.showbizspy.com/news/05282008/ne-yo-confirms-michael-jackson-collaboration
R+B sensation NE-YO has confirmed he is working on pop legend MICHAEL JACKSON's comeback album.
The So Sick singer, who has written hits for Rihanna and Beyonce Knowles, is now helping both Michael and Janet Jackson prepare new releases.
Ne-Yo, real name Shaffer Smith, reveals working with the Thriller hitmaker is one of his most challenging jobs yet.
He says, "I'm submitting songs for his new album. He's being very selective; very picky, but he's supposed to be. This is a going to be a really important album."
Ne-Yo isn't the first person to work with Jackson on his comeback album - will.i.am spent a large part of last year (07) in the studio with the pop superstar and Akon is rumoured to be part of the project as well.
Dangerous Incorporated 29th May 2008, 04:33 AM I highley, highley doubt MJ would tour with Akon or anyone based on the fact that MJs own family cant get him to tour with them because he wants to do his own thing let alone anyone else.

I would say that this is a VERY old interview just being recycled. Janet's album came out 3 months ago, and if you look on page 1 of this thread im sure u will find almost these exact words somewhere on there;)

Neyo on BET honors red carpet January 2008
Um, things are coming along nicely. You know Mike is definately being very picky, which he needs, you know, which he needs to be you know this is a very important album.. he's taking his time, but umm.. I think its gonna be good, I think its gonna be good.
I bet they just did a google search and re-used the quote. Showbiz Spy are absolut fckcking SH.IT! They must have been running low on hits this week...

In the May 30th issue of Entertainment Weekly... Ne-Yo explained: "Every album, I do at least one song paying homage to [Michael Jackson]. This year I actually got to meet him--I'm working on his new album--so it was really important to do a good one this time!"

Michele also is branching out on other projects. She can be heard on the Roots’ new single, “Rising Up.” She was asked to write songs for new albums by Michael Jackson and Jennifer Hudson, though she hasn’t heard if her tunes made the cut.
MJJvibe 2nd June 2008, 06:23 AM Michele Branch no kidding...

True..although I wouldn't be suprised if Akon was the support act for Michael during his tour. I've been to see a lot of concerts & the bigger acts generally have some great support acts who can't neccessarily pull crowds as large as the big acts. I couldn't see Akon filling the O2 arena in London, but being the support act for Michael would be a great platform to perform as most people know who he is and are familiar with his music.:)
Marni 2nd June 2008, 10:35 AM Michele Branch no kidding...
No, Chrisette Michele.
Joel Jackson 2nd June 2008, 10:50 AM I'd really like to hear a track between Michael & Polow Da don on the new album. I think they could put something really great together.
Polow produced 'Love In This Club' for Usher and Chris Browns new single 'Forever' which is a real European pop track with the kind of sound I'd like to hear Michael return with possibly on his first release. I want a track we can dance to! :)
damien 4th June 2008, 03:04 PM New quote from Ne-yo a couple of days ago. As below, transcripted by me:
KEY WORD: "IF" it comes out. I don't like the sound of THAT!

Man, he always says the same things about MJ. It's always the same. I still don't believe he doesn't know what's going on. And if he doesn't, it's possible Mj has not chosen to use any of his songs.
mjfan 4th June 2008, 04:04 PM doesn't michael write the songs himself?

Michael co-writes almost everything, but sometimes people have ideas he loves so much he doenst have to do anything to change it. And yes he does write alot of songs himself also:)

Its been confirmed that Michael Jackson is working on "new music" but Michael NEVER said "im going to release a new studio album to the public".. New music can mean anything. I mean, he made Weve Had Enough in 2003 and we didnt hear it until 2004 on The Ultimate Collection... it was new music but no new album. So Michael has never promised us a new album:)

You can be picky about an album, or music in general, but its the fact that he has to be bothered to PUT the album out, and do the promo rounds... Maybe he just likes making music. Maybe he has no intention to release it. I like to draw pictures and not show anyone. Why cant MJ make songs and not show anyone;)
Amanda-x 5th June 2008, 08:13 AM So, maybe no album at all?
damien 5th June 2008, 08:18 AM So, maybe no album at all?
I believe the reason Mike want the collaborators NOT to talk about it, is because its not 100% gonna happen. At the end of the day, nothing is definate - in general - in life - NOTHING! Michael has yet to even announce he has an album coming out.. although all factors indicate he does. Anything is possible guys, remember that.
Marni 5th June 2008, 08:21 AM Maybe. But he is making new music, that's for sure. He also said at the NRJ awards that "there is still much more to come from Michael Jackson" and said in a fan letter this:

"Efforts" is plural. I don't believe T25 was the last of it.

I believe it may have been. Had he said "I will be sharing info about SOME of my efforts" I'd be like; yeah there will be more. I guess you can read into things how ever you like.
A new MJ era seems like something so unimaginable that in the back of everyones mind is doubt he will bother i reckon.

All fans are discouraged at the moment. We get a series of appearances and mentions, and then nothing.

I think that if Michael decides not to put out a new album then 90% of the public will also remember him for all the wrong reasons because of what has happened, but I'm sure Michael knows that & it may not bother him.
He's MJ, he has nothing to prove. All we can do is hope that he still has the drive to conquer & succeed. He would not be collaborating with Ne-Yo if he didn't want to release music, no way. Lets just hold out for a lil longer and keep our fingers crossed that it's an album.

Was said before T25 came out.
I want you all to know i DO think a new album will come. Im just being objective here because there are always 2 sides to a story and i dont want MJ fans to be biased towards thinking there is no way in hell he wont release it.

But really, we have no reason to believe he wont bring it out, its just that unlike all other artists, Michael doesnt like to let his fans know what he is doing, therefor they cant be bothered waiting all these years for one cd. But when that cd comes out, they flock back in large numbers.

Fans' patience is running low yes. But fans forget that it's been 5 or 6 years between most albums anyway. Also, Mj never promised another album. Ever. A lot of people thought "Invincible" was his last.
Add to the trial- that was 2 years of utter hell for Michael plus the break he needed and deserved. That's 3 years. 7 years minus those 3 equals an album that's been a 4 year wait (keeping in mind that MJ had to take those years out of his work). Keep an open mind.

lovenkendra 17th June 2008, 02:38 PM Thanks for this info. I was kind of confused for a good minute there.
damien 8th July 2008, 01:43 PM Back in October of 2006, Michael Jackson's spokesperson announced that Sean Garrett was one of the numerous high profile producers working on Michael Jackson's forthcoming studio album. However, little to nothing was known about this alleged collaboration and it was only briefly mentioned in print by third parties a few times throughout the past couple of years. However, at the BMI Pop Awards in May of 2008, Sean Garrett himself quietly confirmed to a lone reporter that he was indeed working with Michael Jackson.
In fact, the two have just recently met up with each other at an undisclosed recording studio; one such confirmed meeting between the two occurred approximately one month ago. Of the collaboration, Garrett proclaimed: "I love Michael Jackson... I'm having a blast working with Mike. Mike is one of the greatest entertainers of all time, and it's just a blessing."

Just out of curiosity mj_is_mint, what do you consider to be Michael's 'style'? Hasn't Michael always worked with current producers?
Tony R 23rd August 2008, 12:39 PM Just out of curiosity mj_is_mint, what do you consider to be Michael's 'style'? Hasn't Michael always worked with current producers?
Actually I agree with him. There's a difference between collaboration with a talented producer who'll bring the best out of you and letting a 'here today/gone tomorrow' artist/producer take over your whole record.
Part A: Q / Teddy Riley
Part B: Rodney Jerkins
Marni 23rd August 2008, 12:40 PM That's true- Teddy Riley, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Rodney Jerkins- all current producers (at the time) who worked on previous albums.
I kind of have the same fear though- today's producers do kind of make very similar beats, and tracks that don't last or have no lasting quality. However, MJ brings out the best in everybody he works with because of his genius and the way he works so i have no doubt that no matter who he works with- that it will sound good :)
And tony, I fully disagree about Teddy Riley- the only good NJS he ever created was with Michael. (IMO)
summercrane 24th August 2008, 11:21 AM I found a new quote to add to the front page...I was looking back through recent interviews with people who are in talks with MJ now and found this interview with Christian Audigier (Marni has now posted this is the Christian thread)...this means there is now two quotes (one by Swizz Beatz and one by Audigier) that point to a tour being in the works...I'd say it's time to start getting excited haha

Christian Audigier: The Nightclub at Treasure Island in Vegas
By -- Steve Friess
July 10, 2008
DESIGNER Christian Audigier was a few hours from opening his first nightclub last week, a swanky spread that looks out at the Las Vegas Strip from Treasure Island, but he was already moving past all that. He's got loftier plans.
Much loftier. An airline, in fact.
"It's going to be nice, comfortable, with nice waitresses and nice food, a cool drink and a nice movie," Audigier says, igniting one of three cigarettes laid out neatly for him by an assistant along with a yellow lighter. "I'm talking to different people. I'm not ready yet, but I'm going to do that."
Uh, OK. It's hard to comprehend how a fashion impresario -- even one responsible for the stunningly successful Von Dutch and Ed Hardy lines -- could pull off such an endeavor. Then again, as he explained this, he was sitting on the terrace of his eponymous nightclub. He also has a development deal to build a 36-story hotel with his name on it in Dubai.
So, really, who's to doubt the man at the center of one of the most meteoric rises in fashion history, a designer unknown to Americans a decade ago but who in May was regaled at his 50th birthday by the likes of clients Snoop Dogg, Fergie and Macy Gray? Michael Jackson showed up unexpectedly, declared Audigier the new King of Fashion and is now in talks for a Jackson-branded Audigier line.
"It's gonna be the new look of Michael, of course," Audigier says. "He's preparing a new album and a new tour, and I'm working on a collection to celebrate all the icons of rock, pop and funk. This is what I want to do in my collection for him."
After that, he says, clothing lines involving Madonna and Britney Spears may follow. In fact, the marriage between his clothes -- T-shirts emblazoned with elaborate and often Goth-inspired designs, going for more than $250 -- and the rock 'n' roll culture fits neatly into Audigier's earliest ambitions. He says as a teen he wanted to be Mick Jagger, and now, "Mick Jagger is wearing my clothes."
The nightclub makes Audigier the first designer to delve into the Vegas night life scene as an entrepreneur. He's partnered with Pure Management Group for a berth with an outdoor terrace facing Treasure Island's lagoon, where a pirate show takes place every 90 minutes. Inside, the space is tricked out with rhinestone-encrusted skulls and two 1,000-gallon tanks of 30 jellyfish each. The aim, he says, is "to instill a fashionable night life."
"When you're going into a club, you want to see sparkling and glitter and rhinestones," he says. "This nightclub opening is a big achievement for me, because having a nightclub in Vegas is not something I was dreaming in my life."
As Audigier moved about the place, two cameramen and a photographer tracked his every move, as they have for six years for a planned documentary he hopes to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
"This is really a success story, an American dream," says Audigier, who arrived unemployed in the U.S. in 2001. This year, his company is expected to gross $200 million in sales, and he owns homes in L.A., Miami, Paris and Brazil.
"I came to Los Angeles, and it was a struggle in the beginning. To put your mark on a line was very difficult, so I needed to do my own. Now look at where I am. It is amazing."
Steve Friess co-hosts the podcast "The Strip" at TheStripPodcast.com.

RiskyBizness 25th August 2008, 03:12 AM Oh this is very exciting. If there truly is a tour, I would imagine it's timed to take place awhile after Janet's tour ends.
**Stranger in MJs Heart** 25th August 2008, 03:37 AM when does her tour end
???
Marni 25th August 2008, 05:16 AM ^There are no details of a tour yet, just several people who say MJ is planning a tour. There is no confirmation from Michael himself :)
**Stranger in MJs Heart** 25th August 2008, 05:21 AM thanks marni.... but whhen does her tour end... ? just curius?
summercrane 25th August 2008, 05:25 AM LOL epic fail

Marni 27th August 2008, 01:58 PM Another one for you Damien:
http://www.rap-up.com/2008/08/27/ne-yo-plans-comebacks-for-whitney-houston-michael-jackson/
Ne-Yo has big plans for two music legends. The acclaimed singer/songwriter is penning songs for Whitney Houston’s and Michael Jackson’s highly anticipated comeback albums. The 25-year-old spoke to Rap-Up.com about his role in bringing the two superstars back into the spotlight.
“It’s coming along slowly, but surely. They’re being very selective about what they keep, which they’re supposed to be. These are two very important albums. It’s the one that’s going to bring Whitney back and the one that’s going to take all the attention off of [Michael Jackson’s] personal life, hopefully, and put people back in the mindstate of why they love Michael in the first place,” Ne-Yo said backstage at a recent taping of “FNMTV” in Hollywood.
The hitmaker also shared his advice on how the King of Pop can stage a successful comeback. “The entertainment side—the way he dances, the way he sings, and him being one of the greatest entertainers that got put on the stage—bring people back in that mind frame and away from thinking about when his last surgery was or if he still has the monkey or whatever the hell it is. He’s still Michael Jackson.”
Ne-Yo will release his third studio album Year of the Gentleman on September 16th. Both Houston’s and Jackson’s albums do not currently have release dates.
the one. 27th August 2008, 02:01 PM I love this thread!!!
EssenceOfMagic 27th August 2008, 02:16 PM Thanks for that Marni. Ne-yo just keeps repeating the same things eh.
Marni 27th August 2008, 02:23 PM Yep- which is why I didn't make a separate thread.
Materazzi23 28th August 2008, 07:27 AM Regardless reading about it over and over still fires me up!!
iboz75 2nd September 2008, 03:51 PM whitney never really left. Michael OTOH has been gone for years.
Tony R 2nd September 2008, 03:59 PM In all fairness to Eey-ore, they keep asking him about it, so he keeps replying.
And if I was working with MJ, God knows I'd be talking about it to anyone who'd listen.
iboz75 2nd September 2008, 04:55 PM ^^ then you'd be fired
otheremale 4th September 2008, 11:55 AM Can't wait to get a new album from Michael.
It has been too long!
damien 8th September 2008, 12:40 PM newest quote comes from Tito Jackson at BMI red carpet (sorry im like 3 days late on this one)
Tito Jackson speaks about MJ's new album BMI red carpet 5 September 2008
One other rumour we're hearing.. Michael's working on a new album. What can you tell us about that?
Well he's working hard in the studio and he hopefully will come out with it soon and as you know Michael's a very hard worker so I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a great album.
mickyj007 8th September 2008, 01:19 PM wholy crap.. yes!!!
haha, i love hearing these quotes :)
damien 8th September 2008, 01:25 PM haha, we love hearing the quotes so much, imagine when we hear the MUSIC!
EssenceOfMagic 8th September 2008, 01:45 PM yeee, thanks mate!
mickyj007 8th September 2008, 02:04 PM Hey Damien - I haven't done a search, but have you added any of this?
It's from Akon's latest interview I believe.. and he reveals things about Hold My Hand.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw9b9i9S7Zo&eurl=http://www.mjjcommunity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52602&page=183
Don't know if what he is saying will pan out, but he says:
About HMH, "it's actualy MJ's first single, but it's going to be on both our albums".
Akon says, "my album's coming out this year regardless".
There's a bit more, so you can go through and make proper quotes :)

haha yeah been watching that one for a while but cant seem to understand half of what akon is saying!
also.. id like to add this:
akon said in an interview wth lady gaga 2 weeks ago that his album is NOT finished but he said he WILL be releasing it in October and has NOT chosen an exact date yet:)
Meanwhile, the single can be labelled as MJ single and still be released soon, even if his album is a LONG way off. He doesnt NEED an album to release a single at all, and the single can still be included in the album when it comes out...
Ne-yo released his song "Closer" wayyy back in April and planned his album for a June release, which didnt happen coz his album is STILL not out... so there ya go;)
With that ^^ as evidence MJ can release a single and still not release the corresponding album for 6months, as Ne-yo has done... (Ne-yo is now obviously onto his second single)
mickyj007 8th September 2008, 02:54 PM I swear I watched that Akon/Lady gaga interview and didn't see anything about Akon mentioning when he plans to release it - I guess I missed it.
Was it in part 1 or part 2 of the interview, and how many mins into it?..

Pamela Anderson says sightings of her and Michael Jackson together were not romantic rendezvous but rather for collaboration purposes. The busty blonde told the Elle DeGeneres show that her meetings with the fallen King of Pop were to talk about her starring in one of his comeback music videos.
Anderson, 40, told the show host: "He just wants me to be in a video." However, when pressed by the US chat show host, the actress turned markedly coy about her chemistry with Jacko. "My life is so interesting. My life is a blur", said Anderson. "It happens ... skin cancer and Vicodin," Anderson said in another vague elaboration. "I don't know ... I have a lot of interesting friends." Her comments come after she and the moonwalker, 50, enjoyed a reported cloak and dagger drink together at a Malibu hotel recently.
mickyj007 11th September 2008, 07:51 AM It's probably time to add:

It's seems to me that Pamela is not very respectful to Michael :no1:
I don't like the idea of making a video with P.Anderson

http://music.hollyscoop.com/ne-yo/ne-yo-still-working-on-material-for-michael-jackson_1133.aspx
Hollyscoop sat down with Ne-Yo to get the low down on one of the most talked about comebacks of the year. "I’m submitting songs for the record, and I know a few other people are," said Ne-Yo. "But I don’t know what he’s keeping, I don’t know what he’s recording."
He added, "I’ll send him 3 songs, and he’ll call me and go ‘Hey I really like number one, number two is nice, but I think the hook could be better. And number three, no that’s not really my style. So lets try some more. Send me some more. And that’s what its been for the past few months."
mickyj007 20th September 2008, 03:46 AM Yeah.. Neyo keeps spinning the same sh1t. "I'm submitting songs/MJ is picky and taking his time/etc etc etc etc etc".
Well I agree on one thing, MJ sure is taking his time, lol.
damien 20th September 2008, 03:48 AM Its all the same stuff. I'll update it later but I think its pointless to have Mr. Ne-Robot-yo quotes EVERY time he says the SAME identical thing. I dont reckon Mike will use many if any Ne-yo songs.

You obviously haven't heard his new album then ;)
mickyj007 20th September 2008, 01:10 PM We should ask Joel Jackson all our questions from now on. He seems to know everything :)
Marni 20th September 2008, 01:21 PM I sincerely hope he does use something of Ne-yo's.

Yeh I just bought it today. I think it's awesome! I'd prefer Ne-yo over Akon type songs with a Michael spin. The album is great
Marni 24th September 2008, 11:02 AM Update from John Legend:

John Legend has said he is still unsure what will happen to the song he wrote for Michael Jackson.
Talking at the Tommy Hilfiger Sessions gig in London last night, the soul singer said: "I wrote a song for him quite a while ago with Will.i.am. I didn't work with Michael directly. I don't know if he's going to use this song."

John Legend is probably the only name out of the gazillions rumoured that I'd actually like to see MJ work with. I'm no big fan but at least he's a proper talent.
He may be able to engineer a duet with Alicia Keys as well.

Moonwalker3000 25th September 2008, 12:58 AM Ne-Yo:
Michael Jackson: New Album Better Than `Thriller`
The 50-year-old singer is so desperate to ensure his comeback is a success, he has reportedly told songwriters he won't release the LP unless it is up to the same standard as his 1982 smash-hit album.
Rapper Ne-Yo, who is working on the record, said: "Michael's new album has to be amazing. This album needs to be better than 'Thriller'. He wants killer melodies. I've already submitted some songs but we have no idea when it's coming out. He keeps putting it off."
The rapper revealed Michael - who has become increasingly reclusive since he was acquitted of child sex charges at his 2005 trial - is incredibly nervous at the prospect of re-launching his career.
Ne-Yo added to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Michael is very nervous as he knows he's the underdog and people want him to fail. It's tough when all eyes are on him and there is so much young competition out there."
The young star, who has written hits for Rihanna and Beyonce, also admitted he was terrified at the prospect of meeting Michael, who he has looked up to since he was a child.
He said: "My hands were shaking like never before. But the great thing is that I get to work with my idol and he is really cool."

I know, it's ridiculous and is extremely ignorant. It isn't even just certain black artists that they refer to as rappers, its most! :whatever: Really bugs me because they supposed "Rap" artists are usually writing music that is closer to 'Pop' than 'Rap'.

MICHAEL JACKSON
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/img/66a.gif I've only had a couple of run-ins with Michael.
I met him in Bahrain at this Formula One event. He was there with the Crown Prince of Bahrain - Michael was living there for a while.
I wrote a song with will.i.am that we submitted to him that he may or may not use for his new album, and I have no idea what the status of that album is - if it's still actually in the works or temporarily on hold or anything. I have no idea.
I've had no communication from him. I don't even know if he's still working on an album. I have a suspicion that it's not happening. http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/img/99a.gif

the reason he says that is although he hasnt RELEASED any new music in 7 years, his OLD music still gets PLENTY of club and radio play around the world. You go to a club and its Billie Jean and company that draw the biggest crowds to the dance floor. He has never left the music scene. If he released new music, they would play that, but he hasnt, and he STILL gets played. Thats what will.i.am is saying.

I actually get WHY people would call it a comeback. MJ's old stuff gets played automatically but people anxious for something new keep mentioning "comeback". LOL
Joel Jackson 3rd October 2008, 11:40 AM I actually get WHY people would call it a comeback. MJ's old stuff gets played automatically but people anxious for something new keep mentioning "comeback". LOL
I'd call it a comeback. Of course MJ's old stuff still gets played, it's timeless music. Since Vince, right up until way after the trial Michaels main focus has not been music, for obvious reasons, he's been putting his life back together.
The way we as fans communicate with the artist is through their music, and we ain't seen a brand new, newly written/recorded, Michael track in the charts for 7 years man, and I don't know about you guys but all I've seen since Vince is a dozen re-releases of old music. So for me this is definately, musically, a "comeback".
Tony R 3rd October 2008, 12:22 PM The word comeback is overused and every artist who brings a new album out is accused of 'making a comeback'.
But this really is. If 7 years ain't a comeback I don't know what is.
Joel Jackson 3rd October 2008, 12:33 PM ^^^ Bingo.:ok:
damien 3rd October 2008, 02:16 PM Yeah this is a comeback for sure.
Usher was said to be making a "comeback" but he ended up coming no where. His album has still only sold 1.7 million copies worldwide and he aint released a video or single in months and months. Invincible sold more than 4 times this total but Usher is God and MJ is a flop. Makes sense, right?
troubleman84 3rd October 2008, 07:05 PM In 100% agreement with Joel and Tony.
