I love Justin! :wild:

I think his new album is absolutely incredible and his show (which I saw in October) was unbelievable! The best how, hand down, I have ever seen!

I got the DVD (furturesex/loveshow) and have been happily re-living the concert for the last few days!!

Any other fans out there?

I love seeing him now, then going back and watching videos from when Nsync first got big and seeing the difference. He was such a doll and now has turned into a very sexy man!
I was sooo jealous when you told me (Marni) that you were going to go see him!!! Like I said, I'm not a HUGE fan of his, but that would be a concert I would love to see. I think I might go get the DVD of the concert. I bet he puts on an amazing show.

Justin is very good. I can't believe how many MJ fans **** him off, when he's just carrying on his legacy. He's the nearest this generation have had to the real thing.

I think his songs are just missing that special something that stop them being classics though.

By the way, you'd be amazed how much I get mistaken for him in the street.

I like his album, I only have it on my i-pod (Patrick:laugh:) though. The songs kinda remind me of Michael, so that's propably why I like em:ninja:

When I first listened to the album I thought it was all crap:whistle: but it rocks:punk:

Actually, he's not really carrying on MJ's legacy. He barely mentions MJ any more. Proof of this is on the DVD interviews of the FutureSex/LoveShow. He never mentions Michael once and when someone says their favourite song is "I Can't Help It", Justin chimes in that it was written by Stevie Wonder (Like that matters ) I think it's that he is trying to not be compared with MJ though, like trying to distance himself from the comparison.

Yeah, it takes a few listens to get used to, but it's brilliant!

I am a fan, not a die-hard, hardcore fan. But I like his music, and he is a good singer, and I do have Justified and FSLS

FSLS is a lot better than Justified. I hate to say it, but Justified is already sounding dated. Still a great debut album though.

:yes:I love both albums, i really do. Up until i just recently found out he quit mentioning MJ, i thought that he was carring on MJ's legacy, but not anymore. Oh well, I still think his music is great and his dancing is wonderfull, but NO ONE will ever take MJ's place. Im a JT, Ne-Yo, Usher, and Chris Brown fan, but I'm an MJ Super-Fan, and I wouldnt even pay any attention to all of those others, if they didnt get their inspiration for music, sound, and dance from Michael Jospeh Jackson, The King of Pop.

Justin is fantastic! He's so big right now- he's everywhere! His music is always playing shops, I went to Myer a while ago and they had Future Sex/Love Show playing on all their tvs. He's mentioned often. I only have his FSLS album.

I'm loving Chop me Up- some funny lyrics in there, notably:

So grab your friends and let's take it back to my house
Lets watch Sex in the City or Desperate Housewives
Simon says touch yours while you touch mine
{Parental discretion is advised}

and I love the 3-6 Mafia rap

See girl you're stronger then the strongest drug I ever had,
You can mix em all together you would still be twice as bad.
Cuz you're the worst best girlfriend I ever had,
Harder to quit, the cigerattes and green bags,
Harder to escape the jail cells and bills,
Yea you had me lost since the minute girl n pig tails
Like Michael Jackson, how you do me this way,
Got me cryin rivers like Timbaland and Timberlake

From the singles released in Justified, I love Cry me A River.

And don't you guys reckon the guitar strums from the beginning of Like I love You are a hell of a lot similar to MJ's Why You Wanna Trip On Me?

Haha, chop me up is hilarious!

I never thought of Like I Love You being like WYWTOM, I should listen to them side by side. But I have always thought of that song as sounding "Michael Jackson-ish" but maybe that's because the music track was initially given to or written for Michael. I love that song so much!

I think JT is trying to get as far away from MJ as possible. He seems to hate the comparisons. But it's a great show! Nothing compared to actually being there! :wild:

EssenceOfMagic
16th February 2008, 08:04 AM
What was the MJ interlude?

I saw an interview of him on tv and they showed footage from a concert of him grabbing his crotch and saying "OWW!" is that it? Maybe he shouldn't do that if he wants to get away from the MJ comparisons yeah?

Marni
16th February 2008, 08:54 AM
LOL. There are quite a few MJ references in the concert- the more I watch the DVD, the more I pick them up. In his dance solo at the end of My Love, he does some MJ / SIM type moves; in Like I love You, he grabs his crotch (but kinds more fondles it) and says "Ho!!", in My love or another song there is a crotch grab type move in the choreography and the same in LoveStoned. In his other dance solo towards the end of the concert, he does the oe stance and several other MJ moves, but apparently said in interviews it was a tribute to Fred Astaire, not MJ.

I remember being there and thinking "these moves have MJ written all over them". lol. Whether he wants to say it or not, a lot of his dancing and music is inspired by MJ.

EDIT: Oh dear. I have proof he loves MJ. I don't know what to think of this:

Nope, they didn't do that at our show (Brisbane, Australia). Dammit. :glare: On the DVd, you can see the interviews- so many of the dancers and singers mention Michael though.

I think Justin has got really good songs. I love Cry me a River! That was the song that made me a fan. Plus his dancing is really off the hook! He gives great live performances too. The only problem with JT for me is his voice.....it sometimes gets a bit boring and irritating when he sings in that Falsetto all the time.....:D I would say i like him more when hes on the stage than on CD.

As for him being inspired by MJ its so damn OBVIOUS! But if he doesnt want to say it, thats fine. Doesnt stop him from being absolutely fantastic in doing his thing!

Wow...JT's dancing off the hook?? Isn't that like saying he's awesome?? Never really heard anyone say that about JT before. IMO, he's completely counting steps, thinking about the next move he's gotta do and a tad heavy on his feet. JT is not a foot work dancer.

I guess he's ok doing his thing...WHAT is his thing tho? I see MJ and Prince...hardly any JT at all.

He does dance pretty well- and he tries very hard. He has a unique way about him and you can see that he stands out from his backup dancers- he does have a very good sense of rhythm.

As for his voice, I agree with you- his falsetto is actually not all that great. But he is a great performer and entertainer over all.

I've seen Justin in concert twice. (I have a friend who always drags me along.) JT puts on a great show.

His first album reminds me of Off The Wall. Basically because of the melodic structure of the songs. Most of the songs sound very Michael Jackson-ish. The track "Nothing else" is pure Stevie Wonder with some Michael Jackson tendencies. (Listen for the falsetto on the bridge.) The spirit of the 1981 Michael Jackson was definitely present when this album was recorded.

His second album has more of a Prince feel. Timbaland uses the same drum machine that Prince used to use in the early 1980s, and some of the songs have this electric bounce to them that strongly recall Prince. As a matter of fact, the songs on FL/SS sound eerily similar to the ones on Prince's latest album, MPL Sounds. Future Love/Sex Sounds mirrors Prince's "1999" very strongly. The instrumentation is identical. If you play "1999" and "MPL Sounds" and then play Justin's FL/SS, the influence is undeniable.

Just thought I'd point out two more things; Justin's layered falsetto vocals on SummerLove remind me of MJ's "Leave me alone." They sound almost identical.
As a straight man, I feel secure enough to say that his harmonies are gorgeous.
There, I said it!!

And "Until the end of time" is a very nice attempt at a Prince ballad. The instrumentation is pure Prince. But Justin layered his background vocals really smooth like Michael. Seems that while Prince was the primary influence on Justin's second album, JT still sings his backgrounds like Mike and pays homage to him live on stage.

OK. I'm done ranting.

I think Justified has some great stuff on there esp. Cry Me A River & Senorita.

FS/LS really didn't do it for me at all.

He is a good dancer and singer, and I have to say probably the closest male star to Michael Jackson that this generation have, alongside Usher.

They both just lack the constant great material that Michael produced and that extra magical quality.

Jt is the closest thing to Mj in my opinion they way hes kind of a perfectionist and how he really works hard and on his music and shows and like everything has to be right , also as a performer he knows how to graba crowd like mj does , same with the fashion he took like that hat from mj and elevated it into like rockin all these types of hats , but all that doesn't give one bit of a right for the people or the media to call him the king of pop no way
