View Full Version : Least favourite MJ album?
EssenceOfMagic 24th March 2008, 01:44 PM We have a poll for our favourites, now for the opposite!
I like Off The Wall least because I don't reckon it's personal enough-- SOOML is incredible but the overall feel not so much. It's a very feel good and dancy but I'm more into his raw emotion and more sophisticated lyrics, plus I'm not a big fan of disco.
AVERMAN 24th March 2008, 01:48 PM Off The Wall
But in saying that, I don't hate the album.
Laura? 24th March 2008, 02:07 PM Invincible/BODTF, because I've listened to those the least.
lonniehunnie 24th March 2008, 02:16 PM Definately Invincible, I simply don't like many of the songs on that album.
princechristian 24th March 2008, 02:18 PM i dont really like blood on the dance floor
Stranger In Pittsburgh 24th March 2008, 02:24 PM I don't like Off the Wall, I don't know what it is, but I hardly ever listen to that album.
princechristian 24th March 2008, 02:26 PM I kinda dont understand how in the world people, dont like that album, Off The Wall, ROCKS!
lonniehunnie 24th March 2008, 02:58 PM I think Off The Wall is an amazing album and it has some brilliant tracks, but there are a few weak ones and due to the very strong disco vibe on the album, I can understand why some fans don't enjoy it as much as his other albums.
princechristian 24th March 2008, 03:02 PM well, you have a point, fine.....touche' (i think thats how you spell it)
Minimj 24th March 2008, 03:25 PM I love the all of his albums, the only one which i hardly listen to is blood on the dancefloor because its mainly remixes, and I don't like remixes that much the only decent songs on there was Blood On The Dancefloor and Is it scary.
The_Glove 24th March 2008, 03:27 PM My least fave is. History.
But i dont really class BOTDF as an album.
Stranger In Pittsburgh 24th March 2008, 03:29 PM I personally don't listen to the remixes on BOTDF all that much, but I LOVE the original songs on that cd so it's definitely one of my favorites.
mjismylove 24th March 2008, 03:30 PM I would have to say invincible, mainly because its the only album with some songs I don't listen to at all.
I'm surprised at how many people chose Off the Wall, it's way up there for me
*Hppydyswlldrwnthpn* 24th March 2008, 03:32 PM OoO i voted for BOTD, although i dont hate the alb at all.
Ghosts and Is it scary are Genius! :D
LiberianGirl 24th March 2008, 07:52 PM My least favorite album is Invincible
I don't like most of the songs on the album....the only ones I do like are Whatever Happens, You Rock My World, Heartbreaker, Break of Dawn, and Privacy.
http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb52/lemst6/blackorwhite.png
AppleHead_x 24th March 2008, 08:00 PM My least favorite would have to be invincible. don't get me wrong though, i love you rock my world, cry, Privacy... it's just the albumm i listen to the least.
Little Steven 24th March 2008, 08:02 PM Invincible
I just think he did the wrong thing by trying to tap into the godawful modern R&B/Hip Hop audience. I mean...he's better than that. Ironically, al lot of those people steal heavily from him, so I was essentially copying the people who copied him.
I don't really like Remixes usaully, and, in most cases, BOTD is no exception, but I really like the new songs on there (actually, he should have saved those songs for Invincible).
How can people be voting for Off The Wall here? You people make me sick.
Sick, I tell you.
SICK!
princechristian 24th March 2008, 09:07 PM lmao, Little Steven is right! About OTW. lol, but he had me laughing when he said the "sick" thing.
MjsCinderella32 25th March 2008, 10:58 PM I think Off The Wall is an amazing album, it was the beginning of US...the beginning of MICHAEL being MICHAEL! How could we not love and cherish that album especially?
Killer Queen 25th March 2008, 11:03 PM I really didn't like Invicible at all. Really didn't like the Rodney Jerkins sound at all. No no noooo.
LIVisMJ's#1P.Y.T. 25th March 2008, 11:35 PM Thriller. I know you guys are gonna hate me for it too. I just never got into Thriller. Just didn't like it. My next choice would've been OTW. Invincible is my fourth fave album...
ChrissyLuvsMJ 26th March 2008, 01:12 AM I picked HIStory. It's not that I don't like it, I don't listen to it as much. My fav songs on there are Earth Song, D.S., Money, Come Together, and YANA.
ALyssa Fuller 26th March 2008, 01:21 AM I Love ALL the albums, and I was actually suprised that Invinceable got the most votes, (it's mah favorite)
but I had t say off the wall...
but I don't know. I love them all! ^_~
ChrissyLuvsMJ 26th March 2008, 01:22 AM I agree Alyssa. I love all the albums.
EssenceOfMagic 26th March 2008, 01:44 AM I like a lot of Invincible's tracks more than Off The Wall's, particularly the ballads.
arielaguire 26th March 2008, 09:57 AM I'm sorry but I refuse to vote on this, I just CAN'T choose 'cause I LOVE each of 'em so much. I swear, there is not ONE track of his I DON'T like, on ANY of his albums, so I can't do this!
But I do wanna comment:
- I CAN'T BELIEVE so many of you aren't into Off the Wall! I freakin' LOVE IT!!! With classics like Don't Stop Till You Get Enough, Rock With You, Off the Wall, Workin' Day N' Night, and She's Out of my Life, come on, peeps!
- Blood on the Dancefloor to me was not an album, it was more of an add-on to HISTory (that's why it's called Vol.II), so I don't think that should count, with only 5 new songs. I WILL say that I simply ADORE that CD 'cause not only are the 5 new tracks SPECTACULAR but you can literally just DANCE and party to the whole thing; it's a total dance CD!
- I also can't believe so many of you didn't dig Invincible as much; it's not just You Rock My World, we're talkin' about the album with Butterflies, Heartbreaker, Whatever Happens, Privacy, Break of Dawn, Cry and Unbreakable here!
- Same goes for HIStory: are you guys seriously telling me the album with simply amazing tracks like Scream, Stranger in Moscow, Tabloid Junkie, They Don't Care About Us, 2Bad, Childhood, Come Together, Earth Song, and You Are Not Alone doesn't really cut it for you??? Woah...!
Granted, everyone's entitled to your own opinions and I honestly DO respect each and every person's, but I'm just kinda surprised 'cause I LOVE those albums so much, and I thought you did too. :-(
And don't get me started on Thriller (with WBSS, Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller, Human Nature, Lady in my Life, and PYT) or Bad and Dangerous (which have TOO many incredible songs to just list just a few), so you see why I JUST CAN'T CHOOSE???
neems 26th March 2008, 11:02 AM I didn't like Invincible. :no2: The only songs I enjoy listening to is whatever Happens and Cry.
Holly 26th March 2008, 11:08 AM blood on the dance floor.
nothing speical..not better than thriller 25 or number ones IMHO
ILLBETHERE 26th March 2008, 09:12 PM i love all of his album, but i choose BOTDF =)
Laura? 26th March 2008, 11:01 PM Invincible

Every part of this post is incredibly accurate. Good job Steven!
RequiemNocturne 26th March 2008, 11:20 PM Invincible

Very true.
ChrissyLuvsMJ 26th March 2008, 11:43 PM Right now, I really don't have a least fav. album. I have listened to all of them all the time. I know I picked HIStory, but I listen to it all of times!
Joel Jackson 27th March 2008, 12:34 AM Invincible

Sorry Steven but I can't agree with you there. If you're referring to the rap verses included in Invincible - Michael has included them on every album since Dangerous. If you're referring to the song backings, I think they sound more mechanical and industrial pop than R&B/Hiphops deep based tracks. I think the song which steps furthest into the Urban realms would be 'You Rock My World' which IMO is the strongest track on the album. After that there's Butterflies which also treads the path of being an R&B song, another strong song on the album for me.
If as you said Michael was trying to copy the people who copied him then surely his album would have been a success, as both Justins album was, as both Ushers albums have been.
If Invincible was Michaels attempt to tap into the modern hiphop/R&B audience then I think he got it awfully wrong, but I don't think this was what he attempted.
I'm not sure what you mean when you said about Michael being better than that when referring to R&B, because surely Off The Wall & Thriller are the two Michael albums that fuse Rhythm & Blues with Pop? :)
mjismylove 27th March 2008, 12:53 AM How can people be voting for Off The Wall here? You people make me sick.
Sick, I tell you.
SICK!
Agreed!
LoL, Off the Wall is such a fun album, it's so full of life and spunk. How could you not love it?
King 27th March 2008, 02:02 AM I hate how everyone dont like Invincible, I think its a great album, maybe one of his best. Songs like Unbreakable, Heartbreaker, and Invincible are excellent to jam to really loud when your driving. I choose Blood on the Dancefloor.
Tony R 27th March 2008, 10:06 AM I voted for Invincible the poor relation of Michael's back catalogue. But I've said this before and I'll say it again. Invincible is only a bad album when compared to the others on the list. It is still a very good CD, one of the best releases of the last 10 years.
I'd rather listen to Vince than BOTDF but it's unfair to compare that with the others as it's essentially a remix album.
EssenceOfMagic 27th March 2008, 01:16 PM blood on the dance floor.
nothing speical..not better than thriller 25 or number ones IMHO
I reckon BOTDF is better than say Off The Wall JUST for the single song 'Morphine', so to me it's a LOT better than the compilation/rerelease albums.
Tony R 27th March 2008, 01:22 PM I reckon BOTDF is better than say Off The Wall JUST for the single song 'Morphine', so to me it's a LOT better than the compilation/rerelease albums.
You crazy girl! The new songs on BOTDF are good but they can't compare with Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, Off The Wall, Working Day & Night, She's Out Of My Life. These tracks are full of soul & life & changed the course of pop music. BOTDF tracks by comparison are mechanical and poor (in my opinion!).
I'm not saying they are bad tracks but I don't think you can compare them to classic Mike.
Marni 27th March 2008, 01:26 PM I'm staying out of this thread, purely because i get a lil too passionate about Invincible. I will say- it's just a poll folks, and every fan has an opinion.
EssenceOfMagic 27th March 2008, 01:28 PM I mean ONLY Morphine, I don't like the other new songs on it that much either but for me, the song Morphine beats the whole OTW album so as a result BOTDF album shifts up a place from OTW. Hope that makes sense.
MjsMyLife 27th March 2008, 02:22 PM i don't like BOTDF...coz its mainly remixes but i LOVE the yana mix and ofcourse all the other non-remixed songs :)
Jack Is Dangerous 27th March 2008, 02:33 PM To be honest, I don't understand why some of you slate Invincible, if you actually sat down and listened to it. And I mean listen to it, I think a lot of you would change your minds.
My least favourite album, I love them all, even Blood On The Dance Floor, but I'm going to put it anyway, for the simple fact of the remixes :)

I've always said I really like Invincible but to answer the original question it is my 'least favourite' MJ album, but even a least favourite MJ album still towers abouve 90% of others.

That is true
But soooo many fans underrate Invincible, it can grow to be annoying sometimes
The_Glove 27th March 2008, 03:40 PM I prefer Vince to History as an album on a whole.
MjsMyLife 27th March 2008, 04:43 PM To be honest, I don't understand why some of you slate Invincible, if you actually sat down and listened to it. And I mean listen to it, I think a lot of you would change your minds.

i love invincible!! :inlove: i mean come on its got songs like break of dawn, speechless, don't walk away, you rock my world, the lost childern...and they are all amazing!!! :wild:
Little Steven 27th March 2008, 04:49 PM Sorry Steven but I can't agree with you there. I'm not sure what you mean when you said about Michael being better than that when referring to R&B, because surely Off The Wall & Thriller are the two Michael albums that fuse Rhythm & Blues with Pop? :)
What I'm saying is that it seemed as though he was just doing it because it was the popular style at the time, not because it's what he thought sounded best.
Just how it appeared to me.
I didn't say Michael was better than R&B, I like proper R&B. I was referring to modern R&B, which is no longer rhythm and blues in the true sense of the word. They might as well drop the "B", because there is no blues in there...OTW and Thriller fused REAL R&B with pop (althoug, arguably, R&B is pop, along with just about everything on the charts...once it enters the charts, it's pop). The modern R&B is just glorified hip hop.
DD85 27th March 2008, 08:24 PM I don't understand why people don't like BOTDF. I don't like the remixes that much but the new songs are great ones, especially Morphine and the title song.
Anyway, in my opinion there is no bad albums when we're talking about Michael, I like them all and there's only albums I listen less than others. So I think my answer would be Invincible or OTW.
Michaholic 27th March 2008, 08:51 PM Off The Wall!
MaryLiz 27th March 2008, 09:10 PM I like almost everything Michael does....Just to hear his voice makes me happy, even in remixes....
But sometimes just the fact that the great 80's and 90's are over makes me almost cry....I'm sick of all that modern sh*t....I'm sick of Hip-Hop these days....and RnB isn't either what it used to be....Freakin Justin Timberlake and Chris Brown are making me sick...stealing most of them moves from Mike...hate it. And calling them the new Kings Of Pop ....aaaargh!!!
Michael is the KING OF POP and therefore should do POP....(even tho we all know he can do almost everything...this talented man)
I love his old albums where his voice was younger and higher...I love the old sounds...not new and remixed...no scratching and no "yeah-yeah-what-what-uh-uh"...
The time where Quincy Jones was producing for Mike, and Teddy Riley.....those were the glorious days..
Sorry but I don't think Rodney Jerkins is the right man for Mike....He tries to make him sound like RnB/HipHop .... Michael represents Pop like no other artist...
I just like his Pop-songs more than his RnB songs...(with little exceptions)
Therefore my favourite Albums are those he made before BOTD....I'm not saying that I don't like the others but I just think that those albums are not really MJ...(just from the sound) I'M NOT TALKING BOUT THE LYRICS HERE!!!
BTW: I wanna see him on stage again....Can't wait !!!
King 27th March 2008, 10:49 PM I think he should of made Blood on the Dance Floor a real album instead of a remix. Around 15 brand new songs. It might of been a big hit.
lonniehunnie 28th March 2008, 02:43 PM I think he should of made Blood on the Dance Floor a real album instead of a remix. Around 15 brand new songs. It might of been a big hit.
I totally agree! The original songs that are already on Blood On The Dancefloor are up there with my favourite MJ songs. They're so original and beautifully made. I think there should have been more original songs and less remixes ... the HIStory remixes could have made great bonus tracks or been on another extra cd.

Or it should have been a 5 track Ghosts EP and either sold it seperately or with the Ghosts video
mikejoejacklover58 28th March 2008, 06:53 PM Or it should have been a 5 track Ghosts EP and either sold it seperately or with the Ghosts video
That would have been awesome!
x0xMichael/Jacksonx0x 28th March 2008, 07:09 PM Thriller. :)
ILLBETHERE 29th March 2008, 12:16 AM I think he should of made Blood on the Dance Floor a real album instead of a remix. Around 15 brand new songs. It might of been a big hit.
I AGREE!!!:wild::wild:
Amanda-x 29th March 2008, 12:39 AM Thriller - don`t hate me.
EssenceOfMagic 29th March 2008, 12:50 AM By the way, I LOVE Off The Wall, just not as much as the others.
Amanda-x 29th March 2008, 12:51 AM Off The Wall is a killer album!
ChrissyLuvsMJ 29th March 2008, 01:07 AM U know what that means? Everyone loves Thriller, (except for 3), Bad, and Dangerous the most!
EssenceOfMagic 29th March 2008, 01:16 AM ^ and for good reason! :wild:
laila666s 29th March 2008, 01:13 PM Invincible. :no2:
EssenceOfMagic 30th March 2008, 02:49 AM I think Invincible is better than Off The Wall coz there's more variety
RockWithLou 10th July 2008, 02:36 PM For me it's Dangerous. I love it but I don't listen to it half as much as the others. Plus, there's not many individual songs that I just pick out and listen to on Dangerous.
Amanda-x 10th July 2008, 03:29 PM I love how nobody has voted fro Bad yet. :)
Mulleno 10th July 2008, 03:39 PM Blood On The Dancefloor.. I turn it off when the remixes come on, not too keen on them, I like about 3 of those songs.
iboz75 10th July 2008, 04:12 PM BOTDF, only because I didn't like the remixes. All of the new songs on there were great though.
Why are y'all hatin' on Invincible? I actually like that album.
Tony R 10th July 2008, 04:16 PM ^ Simply cos it's not as good as the others.
I'm not counting BOTDF cos it shouldn't be a choice, but all the others are stnning classics. Invincible has a few shining moments but its not in the same league.
Still one of the best albums of the century though.
alatariel4mj 10th July 2008, 04:19 PM Why do people hate the BOTDF remixes!!! I absolutely LOVE them! Especially the earth song remix, YANA, and the History one! Brilliant!
you people need to listen to them again and give it a second chance! They are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3
iboz75 10th July 2008, 04:23 PM I don't really like remixes, though. I always think, " what was so wrong with the original? If Michael wanted it to sound that way, that would've been the official cut..." an so on.
There are exceptions, like the JayZ YRMW, and Butterflied accapella.
Tony R 10th July 2008, 04:25 PM I've given them many chances. I've had it 11 years!
I can tolerate Scream Louder and I almost like 2 Bad. But the rest are awful.
SIM should never have been remixed, the whole soul & beauty of the record is lost. And Earth Song has had it's entire life ripped out of it.
Ironically the best HIStory remixes are TDCAU and for some reason they never made BOTDF.
iboz75 10th July 2008, 06:54 PM I don't like the "club beat" in History. That really sucked.
Stranger In Greece 10th July 2008, 08:05 PM BOTDF!:cool::cool::cool:
MissJoJackson 13th July 2008, 10:18 PM Blood on the Dance Floor! I mean...come on...
Kristie 14th July 2008, 12:24 AM I'm not including Blood on the Dance Floor - so I'm going for Invincible. Don't get me wrong, when we consider the albums churned out in the music industry today, Invincible is absolutely fantastic but I pretty much never have to skip any songs when listening to OTW, Thriller, Bad and Dangerous because every song is of such a high quality. HIStory overall is also brilliant (except Little Susie just chills me a bit too much for me to listen to it alot). Invincible unfortunately has a few too many dud tracks for my liking..Still a great album though!
beatleradan 16th July 2008, 11:59 PM It probably will be MJ's next album if it will be produced in a way MJ did Hold My Hand with Akon..that song is really ugly & stupid and if MJ will follow this direction..well, then it's THE END!..to keep his legacy at good, MJ must work with Teddy Riley again( or better not releasing anything new ) Akon is disgusting!
Killer Queen 17th July 2008, 12:14 AM ^^ A little extreme when voicing your views, aren't you?
beatleradan 17th July 2008, 11:47 AM See, i am musician, i'm using ears to listening music, and it makes me sad to see what kind of music is "popular" these days...
streetwalker 17th July 2008, 03:16 PM i listen to them all, i love them all...but i dont listen to thriller much. Just like AVERMAN said, it doesnt mean that i hate that album.
streetwalker 17th July 2008, 03:17 PM See, i am musician, i'm using ears to listening music, and it makes me sad to see what kind of music is "popular" these days...
Music nowadays are focused on loudness
alright, this one is off topic:)
Jungiebumper 17th July 2008, 03:18 PM Off the wall is a little too... I don't know, I'm just not a big fan of any of the songs on that album, but I still think they're okay:yes:
Tony R 17th July 2008, 03:19 PM Each to their own etc, but you'd rather listen to Invincible rather than Thriller?
Moonwalker5889 17th July 2008, 10:20 PM i voted 4 OTW...i don't really like it...i don't y but i just don't...
The_Glove 17th July 2008, 11:44 PM History is the weakest. IMO.
Moonwalker5889 19th July 2008, 11:30 PM bump............
mjgirl88 20th July 2008, 06:33 AM I don't really like Invincible that much...
Michaelfan99 20th July 2008, 09:37 AM I guess that a lot of ya'll agree with me with BOTDF. I mean I like it but I'm not a big fan of remixes.
DANGEROUS-x 20th July 2008, 11:02 AM Invincible. What a mess..
The only tracks I can listen to are Heaven Can Wait, Break Of Dawn, YRMW & Butterflies.
The rest I can't stand, I'd rather listen to Akon anyday really. :)
Moonwalker5889 20th July 2008, 11:48 PM I don't really like Invincible that much...
really??
why not??
jw...
alatariel4mj 21st July 2008, 10:59 PM How does Bad not have any votes! I meant to vote for bad but acidently voted for HIStory:(
And the three people who voted Dangerous......are you on drugs???!!!!
MissJoJackson 21st July 2008, 11:27 PM How does Bad not have any votes!
Probably because it's AMAZING?! :D
Moonwalker5889 22nd July 2008, 06:52 PM And the three people who voted Dangerous......are you on drugs???!!!!
:toofunny::toofunny:
Jarissy 15th August 2008, 02:59 AM Invincible.. dont listen to much of them..
x
Chrissy
simona 8th December 2008, 11:48 AM invincible album
MrMikeJ 15th December 2008, 05:39 AM HIStory I get sick of that one faster than the rest for some reason. I lov the album it must be the song sequence or something else. It does have a lot of songs I love on it though.
whosbad 15th December 2008, 05:52 AM BOTDF on the first place???
Voted (of course) for Invincible. His worst album ever.
trueiopian 15th December 2008, 06:06 AM What the fcuk!?!?! Off the Wall is an incredible album
Bad because it's literally bad
With the exception of two songs.
suga10 10th January 2009, 11:00 PM I'd go with History and Invincible.
michaeliscious 11th January 2009, 12:00 PM I refuse to vote!!!! Love em all, not equally....but love em!!!!!
xxSuzumeChan 23rd January 2009, 02:07 AM *chokes and dies*
WHO VOTED DANGEROUS?? :nuuh:
dave 1st February 2009, 06:25 PM The most of the remixes of BOTD are horrible
Revanth 1st February 2009, 06:34 PM i voted for off the wall
i rarely listen to that
Michaelka 3rd February 2009, 06:03 PM I love Thriller. It's amazing and it's so persionaly... For Michael. I think.
Chell 3rd February 2009, 09:29 PM I don't hate it, but Off The Wall is my least listened to album.
I just have difficulty getting into some of the songs. (Excluding Don't Stop and Rock With You, though.)
StineJacksonDancer 9th February 2009, 07:07 PM invincible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never listen to it:)
blood otdf.. I don't care about the remixes..that there's so many of them.because just the 5 new songs on there are BETTER than any song on invinc.
so it would be a better album even if it was only those 5 new songs on the album and not the remixes. (to me)
:)
Dublinproud 9th March 2009, 11:24 PM Blood On The Dancelfoor...I hate remixes
Rachieex 12th March 2009, 06:57 PM Im saying blood on the dance floor..this the album i listen to least
butterfly26 15th March 2009, 01:40 PM I think that Blood on the dance floor is my least favorite album, I don't know I just don't really like those mixes...
Lady S 19th November 2009, 01:48 AM I would say that it's a tie between OTW and Bad. that doesn't mean I don't like them though.
DSTYGE and Working Day and Night is what keeps OTW going for me. Songs like the title track, Speed Demon, MITM, IJCSLY, and Smooth Criminal is what keeps Bad going for me.
CaptainEO 19th November 2009, 02:58 AM From favorite to least for me:
Bad
Dangerous
HIStory
Thriller
Off The Wall
Blood On The Dance Floor
Invincible
drewhiggins 19th November 2009, 03:06 AM HIStory
Blood On The Dance Floor (only the new songs)
Dangerous
Bad
Off The Wall
Thriller
Invincible
james283126 19th November 2009, 04:20 AM I know tyff will kill me but Invincible, i love it but it's my least fav.
CaptainEO 19th November 2009, 04:37 AM I know tyff will kill me but Invincible, i love it but it's my least fav.
You are obviously not alone, lol. It is no doubt the weakest in his library. That being said it's still MJ, but compared to his great albums such as Thriller, Bad, Dangerous...it doesn't compare.
Lady S 19th November 2009, 05:01 AM (waiting for tyff to come here:))
I'm having 2nd thoughts on my previous choices. I ascertain what my least fave album is merely on the number of songs that I "not into" on an album...if I had to say what is the album that contains the most number of songs I am least into (hope I make sense), I am trying to think.
Lady S's overanalytical rambling: :)
OTW - not 100% into: Girlfriend, It's the Falling in Love. All others just fine. 2 out of 10 songs
Thriller - not 100% into: Baby Be Mine, The Girl is Mine, Thriller, PTY. 4 out of 9 songs
Bad - not 100% into: TWYMMF (maybe because it's played too much - but the song's alright), Another Part of Me, Dirty Diana (*gasp*), Leave Me Alone. 4 out of 11 songs
Dangerous - not 100% into: Can't Let Her Get Away 1 out of 14 songs (sometimes I think also the title track but I do LIKE it...so maybe 2 out of 14 but that's it)
HIStory - not 100% into: This Time Around, 2Bad, YANA 3 out of 15
BOTDF - not 100% into: Morphine (*gasp*) 1 out of 5 (not counting remixes)
Invincible: - not 100% into: title track, Privacy, Threatened. 3 out of 16
(disclaimer: "not 100% into" doesn't mean I outright dislike the track but I'm lacking in passion over it)
so if I look at it THIS way - what would my least fave album be?
would it be a tie between Thriller (*gasp*) and Bad? gee never thought about it THAT way.
would that render my favorite album to actually be Dangerous because it contains the least number of songs I'm "not into"? Geez. :)
(well then I'd have to take a percentage of the songs I'm "not into" compared to the total number of songs on the album, and THEN find out)
(something I don't care to do because I simply don't CARE to do it:D I just wanna listen to the music for crying out loud)
however - using this method, my least fave album would be Thriller! :D
*giggling at my silly psychoanalysis*
heeyebsx3 19th November 2009, 05:05 AM Eh; voted for BOTDF.
Skylight 19th November 2009, 05:27 AM Argh I cannot choose a least favourite MJ album... I just love them all so much!! I wanna say BOTDF just because it only has 5 actual songs and I'm not a big fan of remixes but I really love those 5 songs  lol I'm gonna do what Lady S did
Off The Wall - Workin' Day & Night, Girlfriend, It's The Falling In Love - 3/10 - 30%
Thriller - The Girl Is Mine - 1/9 - 11%
Bad - Bad (nobody kill me ) - 1/11 - 9%
Dangerous - Heal The World, Gone Too Soon, Keep The Faith - 3/14 - 21%
HIStory - Come Together - 1/15 - 7%
Blood On The Dance Floor (not counting remixes) - Morphine - 1/5 - 20%
Invincible - Heartbreaker, You Are My Life, Cry, The Lost Children - 4/16 - 25%
Which makes my least favourite Off The Wall  No waaay!! I love that album!!
Oh well, I can't choose anyways so I'll vote for that
OMG! My second least favourite is Invincible :omg: no no no no noooo waay!! That's more like my second favourite album!!!
Lady S 19th November 2009, 05:40 AM LOL I think my method is flawed because there should ideally be the same number of songs on each album, so that comparing the percentages makes more sense, I'm just being a silly arse:) but still, I thought I'd do what I did just for fun. it does change one's results doesn't it HAHA...it kinda makes me laugh...
heeyebsx3 19th November 2009, 05:53 AM Lol I actually like your method.
I already voted; I just wanna see how it would turn out :D
So the songs im not too fond of;
OTW: Girlfriend ; 1/10 = 10%
Thriller: Baby Be Mine ; 1/9 = 11%
Bad: Speed Demon &+ Just Good Friends ; 2/11 = 18%
Dangerous: Dangerous &+ Can't Let Her Get Away ; 2/14 = 14%
HIStory: Money, Little Susie, Come Together ; 3/15 = 20%
BOTDF: Ghosts ; 1/5 20%
Invincible: 2000 Watts, Unbreakable, Invincible ; 3/16 = 19%
That makes HIStory &+ BOTDF my least .. so My voted worked out :D
But ... my top 3 are out of order; but close enough ^_^
tyff says whoa 19th November 2009, 06:23 AM Ugh, Invincible haters. -_- That's some of his better work; you really have to listen to the music. I would say the album (as a whole) I listen to least would be Thriller. Then again, I'd have to do a count of the songs I skip vs the songs I let play. LOL
Lady S 19th November 2009, 06:38 AM LOL I thought I'd redo my percentages. Just to make sure.
OTW - 2 out of 10 - 20%
Thriller - 4 out of 9 - about 44%
Bad - 4 out of 11 - about 36%
Dangerous - 1 out of 14 - about 7%...if I consider 2 out of 14 - about 14%
HIStory - 3 out of 15 - 20%
BOTDF - 1 out of 5 - 20%
Invincible - 3 out of 16 - 18.75%
gee, quantitatively my fave/least fave albums sorta shock me. that would mean Dangerous is my fave and Thriller is my least fave (though Thriller for me is not among my immediate fave MJ albums anyway).
qualitatively (if judging my fave/least fave on merely subjective feelings or attachments), HIStory is my fave and either OTW/Bad is my least fave but that's not saying a lot about the least fave part because I actually LIKE all of MJ's albums, but to varying degrees though.
Anna Stesia 19th November 2009, 06:53 AM I voted HIStory. It was conflicting for me, though. I like a majority of the songs very much, but I based my vote on which album I just can't listen to from start to finish. And that ended up being HIStory.
Love the songs but I have to listen to them on shuffle. Every other album I can listen to straight through.
My strategy is lame, I know.
tyff says whoa 21st November 2009, 09:56 AM LOL I thought I'd redo my percentages. Just to make sure.

You're so... elaborate with your explanations. hehe I was shocked to read that OTW is possibly a least favorite album since you adore his looks during that period, right?
Lady S 21st November 2009, 10:46 PM You're so... elaborate with your explanations. hehe I was shocked to read that OTW is possibly a least favorite album since you adore his looks during that period, right?
OH YEAH BABY:wub::wub::wub:LOOKWISE THAT IS MY FAVE! (not yelling, just shouting in adulation like a teenager)
to come think of it, I'm not sure exactly what to say as far as my least fave album - I haven't listened to OTW in awhile. I may be thinking it's my least fave because I haven't paid much attention to it. Maybe if I take it out and listen to it again I may change my mind.
with MJ albums, my opinion on any given aspect of an album doesn't necessarily stay the same. it drives me nuts:)
Stone. 22nd November 2009, 12:15 AM hhhmmm i need more time to decide hehe ><
NiallJackson 22nd November 2009, 12:22 AM BOTDF, only because it's lack of new material. The 5 tracks that are on there are absolutely brilliant BUT the rest of the album, the remixes, suck really. I don't like any of them except maybe the HIStory one at the end. If BOTDF had those 4 or 5 completed but left out tracks from HIStory that we hear about maybe more attention would be paid to it.
BrownEyes 22nd November 2009, 12:55 AM I voted for BOTDF, simply because I don't listen to it often at all. I'm sad that my fave album is in third place for least liked album though. Oh well...this actually supports a point that I was trying to make in another thread, lol. =D
smoothcriminal 22nd November 2009, 01:36 AM It has to be invincible even though there are some classics on that album but as an album its just weak to me especially the second half of the album , BOTDF comes in second least favorite because there only 5 songs really and the rest are remixes which most of them are weak except Scream , 2bad ,You are not alone and History

Same here! haha I don't listen to certain songs/albums for a long period of time so that when I do listen, it's like being fresh again & that old love comes back. hehe Love that feeling.

-2 :(
ManInTheMirror 16th January 2010, 12:09 PM I know some people will hate on me but.. Dangerous is my least favuorite. I can't really get into the tracks on that one.. only half of the album I like.
Lady S 16th January 2010, 03:35 PM I know some people will hate on me but.. Dangerous is my least favuorite. I can't really get into the tracks on that one.. only half of the album I like.
LOL I don't hate you, as a matter of fact, Dangerous was probably the album I took longest to get into. I like it NOW though but for awhile...it didn't click with me the way it seemed to click with others. It took a really long time, but it did. Not saying that's the case for everyone. which songs of the album do you like?
Yuliana 17th January 2010, 11:06 AM Thriller.
Thriller-probably the corniest song out of all his songs
P.Y.T.&The Girl Is Mine-just ok at best. I like the demo version of each a whole lot more.
Absolutely love the rest of the tracks on the album. My strong disliking for the 2 above is the reason why I voted for Thriller.
cloudymjfan 17th January 2010, 01:01 PM I don't listen to Off the wall as much,i think its because it's less emotional ( for me anyway) so i voted for that.
michelle1 27th January 2010, 08:55 PM I choose Blood on the Dance Floor because all that album just has are remixes of some of his songs. Remixes are kinda not my thing!
xmj_4eva 27th January 2010, 09:13 PM ^ Agree with you! I chose Blood on the Dance Floor too. I really love that song and the other 3 new tracks on the album (Morphine, Superfly Sister and Is It Scary) but i arnt keen on the remixes at all.
albanesi 1st August 2010, 05:22 AM Invincible, idkw
baderalover 10th August 2010, 03:54 PM i like the Bad album
StarlightSky 10th August 2010, 03:57 PM I suppose Off The Wall. Not that I hate it or anything but as others have said, it's not as personal and I'm not a huge disco fan but I do love some of the songs on there.
ChickenMcNuggets 18th August 2010, 12:06 AM Have I not even posted in here yet? O.O!
I'd say probably Invincible. I just find it a really difficult album to listen to from start to finish - I just get bored and switch to another album halfway through. For me, it has way too many uncharacteristically (for him) average, forgettable and generic songs (Don't Walk Away, Cry, Invincible, Heartbreaker, The Lost Children, Privacy, 2000 Watts... basically half the album) that also drag on so much, as if Michael was trying to impress the listener as a struggling schoolkid would try to impress his teacher - "but just look how much work I've done here! How could you not be impressed with me?" It feels like an album he did because he largely just felt the obligation to.
It's not as if he could no longer create a song that I really liked - Beautiful Girl, Speechless, Unbreakable etc.
Upside 18th August 2010, 12:17 AM Off The Wall. The reason it's not Blood On The Dance Floor is because a.) I wouldn't consider it a studio album and b.) I like the 5 "new" songs.
lanne 18th August 2010, 12:37 AM Invincible for me - to me there is just something missing when listening to it... maybe that it doesn't seem to have the passion that all his other albums have, or that the style of music simply isn't really "my thing", but I've never been able to really get into it. I do like individual songs such as Break of Dawn, Whatever Happens, Unbreakable, Speechless... but I don't often listen to the album as a whole.
nesboy43 18th August 2010, 12:56 AM Invincible, there a a few good songs I like. (Unbreakable, Invincible, Break of Dawn). However 80% of that album is awful. It's not even one of those "out there" "unique" kind of things he coulda tried that didnt work. Its really sappy pop ballads that just end up being dry of any kinda rythm, flavor, or fun. Sorry but this is a no brainer for me as the worst MJ album. It's definetely not a terrible album, but I do have trouble listening to it all the way through, and in comparison to his other stuff (which i listen to over and over again) that's saying something.
Also what I always thought would've been good is if he got the stronger songs from invincible and the 5 songs from BOTDF and made an album out of that, instead of releasing em seperately. That could've been an effin' solid album.
1.Unbreakable
2.Ghosts
3.Is it Scary
4.Break of Down
5.Superfly Sister
6.Invincible
7.Morphine
8.Heartbreaker
9. Threatened
10. Blood on the Dance Floor
ChickenMcNuggets 18th August 2010, 11:50 AM Personally I think the time would've been right for him after the HIStory period, let's say, if not after Invincible, for him to live up to what he said about not just releasing "pop album after pop album"... I really wish that the classical album that had been rumoured had come to fruitition, for example.
The irony to a certain extent with Invincible was that it was a very much invincible backcatalogue of the kind of 'usual' pop/RnB material that he was aiming for again with Invincible that seemed to be increasingly hobbling him with every new album that he released as he aged. At 40, the time would've been right to take a really interesting sidestep, you'd have thought, and make use of those astonishing talents of his in a way that didn't lead to so much constraining pressure to produce 'another Thriller'.
As an artist you need to keep on moving and evolving, after all, and with Invincible you got the sense that he'd kind of 'bottomed out' after so many projects of the same old basic formula. IMHO.
smooth 18th August 2010, 02:23 PM Invincible. I can't believe that Blood On The Dance Floor is winning this poll. The 5 original songs on that album are miles better than all of the songs on Invincible
Blackat 18th August 2010, 02:32 PM Thriller.
No honestly, the one songs I actually like - and listen to regularly - are WBSS and P.Y.T. Never been a Billie Jean/Beat it/Thriller fan.
This Is It 18th August 2010, 02:41 PM Invincible. I can't believe that Blood On The Dance Floor is winning this poll. The 5 original songs on that album are miles better than all of the songs on Invincible
Fact. But the remixes are appalling - a major factor, I believe, in the votes against it. Come on, there can't anyone who prefers The Lost Children to Morphine!
smooth 18th August 2010, 04:38 PM I'm actually one of those rare people who loves The Lost Children. Is it cheesy? Of course but MJ put heart into it. I can't say the same thing about 2000 Watts
ExpiredJam 18th August 2010, 08:24 PM I don't listen to Off the wall as much,i think its because it's less emotional ( for me anyway) so i voted for that.
One of the reasons it's a favourite for me actually.
I'd have to go with Invincible and BOTDF tied. I can't deny that the new tracks on BOTDF completely outshine the remixes but I don't like those any more than the select few I like from Invincible. And I really do mean select. Even then, I only listen to one song from each of the two regularly.
nesboy43 19th August 2010, 04:56 AM I honestly have trouble believing people voted for Off The wall and Thriller, even bad and dangerous, makes me want to hit someone hahahah. Also how is BOTDF winning that one had some awesome songs on it.
TheLittleFellow 19th August 2010, 10:35 PM BOTDF .. But that was a remix album tho' ..
L.1985 20th August 2010, 12:40 AM Blood On The Dance Floor
Moose 7th September 2010, 12:18 AM Whats with the invincible hate? I know it took some time to get used to the new sound but after you get over that I find it stronger than Dangerous/Bad. The only tracks I dont like on Invincible are Invincible, Heartbreaker, and The Lost Children.
StarlightSky 7th September 2010, 12:27 AM Blood on the Dancefloor seems to be the least favourite but I assume that's because it's mostly remixes.
TheLittleFellow 7th September 2010, 07:40 PM Blood on the Dancefloor seems to be the least favourite but I assume that's because it's mostly remixes.
Agreed. I'm not a huge fan of remixes ..
